Has any one heard of the 5 Crystal Skulls? for those who don't know The Crystal Skulls are 5 Crystal Skulls(legend says there are 8 more) are pieces of a clear quartz now the wierd thing is there are no tool marks from hand tools or anything more advanced and scientists estimate that even if the skulls were done by hand with no marks from the tools it would have taken 7 generations. Others speculate that these skulls were left behind to help man kind grow and when we find the others(skulls that is) they shall reveal knowledge beyond belief. what do you all think?

Man that is really interesting! I dont really understand whats going on with that but its some Lord of the Rings stuff!
The original draft of The Lord of the Rings featured Chuck Norris instead of Frodo Baggins. It was only 5 pages long, as Chuck roundhouse-kicked Sauron's ass halfway through the first chapter.

its a really great idea, I have trouble believing that we have come over a third of the way to being so highly evolved that we can take that knowledge. We haven't been around that long in the sceme of things, but I guess this generation will never know the answer. In the meanwhile they are really pretty and cool.

There are...tons of crystal skulls that they've found. The only ones worth mentioning are the Mitchell-Hedges skull and the Rose Quartz skull. The latter is a pink skull, very similar to the Mitchell-Hedges, but smaller and less clear. The Mitchell-Hedges skull is the one with all the hullabaloo. It was perfectly crafted, and the only way to do so back in the ancient time it claims to come from, would've taken 300 years. Obviously impossible. It doesn't come from some Hollow Earth subeterranean people, or Atlantis, or aliens... Mitchell-Hedges didn't even discover it! He bought it at a British auction. It was probably made within the past 200 years or so, and definitely with a modern polishing machine. Soooo yeah. I'm not saying it's less magnificent; nobody can duplicate that today. But it definitely doesn't hold the secrets of the world, or the planets, or aliens, or what's in a twinkie.

Right. Well, it's a fun thought. quote: ...has a stagering impact to our ideas about life on this little mudball we call home Not for me. My ideas about Earth are already influenced by mysteries that are incredible yet true.

Thanks, amp. That's what I was hinting at, that information stored in a compound isn't some marvellously unique idea. quote: No, I think we're thinking about different things. The cake's internal structure is random. Whatever its order may be, it still has information for one's body and the environment. quote: There *could* be some ordered structure within the skulls that is recorded information, but again I think that's probably just a bunch of crap. Ah, so RECORDED information. That's a huge indication of what sort of information we're referring to. In that case, the skulls are a load of bull. Like I said before, the idea that ancients left behind things that (potentially) lead us to important information isn't the radical idea. It's that they stuffed it all in some pretty crystals that I find highly unlikely.

No, I think we're thinking about different things. The cake's internal structure is random. I'm talking about the orientation of the SiO2 molecules, or trace elements, or something like that. There *could* be some ordered structure within the skulls that is recorded information, but again I think that's probably just a bunch of crap.

quote: Sure it can. How is information stored on magnetic tapes? It's possible information could be encrypted into quartz crystals in some way. Do I think there's anything in them? No. Untill I see some evidence of such, I'm discounting it as another ancient myth.
Well, of course. But I guess I meant that it depends on what one considers to be information. I could say that a slice of cake is chock full of information, which is true to an extent. Anyway, the crystal skull idea is cool and very Inuaysha-eske, but I don't give much credence to it as it's all just speculation. There's more mysterious "wisdom" left behind in the design of some European towns (refer to "Holy Blood, Holy Grail"), which is completely scientifically proven.

That's simply not true. If you grind/polish the suface past the tool marks, you erase any evidence of tool use. I just did this last wednsday in the rock cutting lab. Granted I used carbide grit and not ancient tools, but you can still do it.

Well, no, those would have been used to get the gross proportions. Any tool marks would have been destroyed by polishing.
