Well, I don't practice any of that. But I'm interested in the history of the moon and anything that has to do with celestial bodies. I entered a new scholarship contest. You're welcome to help by voting or posting the link in other places. Thank you. http://tinyurl.com/2zmopx

Pretty good author. I have Conway's celtic shamanism book, which is also good on the history as well as the practicing.

I knew I kept my moon magic book for a reason. It's Moon Magick by D.J. Conway. quote: Artemis: Virgin Huntress; goddess of wild places and wild things: the Huntress; Maiden; Bear Goddess; Moon Goddess; Hunter of Souls; shape-shifter. In Ephesus she was called Dea Anna, "many-breasted", and was the patroness of nurturing, fertility and birth. In Greece she as sculpted as tall slim, lovely, and dressed in a short tunic. Her chariot was pulled by silver stags. She roamed the forests, mountains, and glades with her band of nymphs and hunting dogs. She acted swiftly and decisively to protect and rescue those who appealed to her for help and was quick to punish offenders, although violence itself was abhorrent to her. She knew the deep secret places in Nature where one could rest and regain strength.
The Amazons (Moon-women), who were loyal to her, worshipped one aspect of Artemis (the New Moon phase). As Goddess of the Hunt, she carried a silver bow and was accompanied by a stag and her pack of hounds, the Alani. She could bring destruction but was usually benign. The sixth day of the New Moon was hers. Defender of women who were harassed or threatened by men. Acorns and wormwood were sacred to her.
Patroness of singers; protecteress of young girls; mistress of magick, sorcery, enchantment, psychic power, womens's fertility, purification, sports, good weather for travellers, woodlands, the hunt, mental healing, wild animals, mountains, woodland medices, healing.
quote: The Cretan goddeses Britomartis and Dictynna were very similar to Artemis/Diana.
quote: An ancient Greek custom of honoring Artemis' birthday with a Full Moon cake is still seen today in our birthday cakes. The Greeks even put lighted candles on the Moon cake.

Ah, the Goddess of Light. "The Goddess Artemis Artemis, the Greek Goddess of Light and the Hunt, was known for her wildness, but also for her responsiveness to the needs of the suffering and those who were vulnerable. An early feminist, she was quick to defend the powerless from unjust treatment at the hands of the Olympian patriarchy. The Greek goddess Artemis was fiercely independent, choosing the wild and verdant beauty of the forest and mountains over marriage, parenthood, and life in a city. As goddess of the moon and the hunt, Artemis was an accomplished archer who had keen focus and a steady aim . . . she was always able the reach the goals upon which she set her sights. Courageous, intuitive and skillful, Artemis was the protector of all those who were vulnerable, especially women and children. In Rome Artemis was known as the Roman goddess Diana. Of all the Greek goddesses, the goddess Artemis was the most self-contained. Considered to be one of the "virgin goddesses", i.e. unmarried and not susceptible to the pangs of love, She demanded to live her life on her own terms and was comfortable both in solitude but also in leading others."
