So this is a quiz. I found it on the Time magazine and thought I'd post it here to see how much you guys actually know. Just answer honestly if you don't know. Don't cheat! I will post the answers later.

"Joining Team U.S.A may be getting harder. The government last week said it will revise the citizenship test to focus less on memory and more on understanding. 'Rather than asking how many branches of government there are, we would ask why we have three branches of government,' says Emilio Gonzalez, director of U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services. (Answer: Checks and balances.) Good thing you don't have to take the test to keep your passport. According to Gallup, 83% of Americans can't name the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Can you? Here are 10 of the proposed new questions. You need to get six right to pass."

1. What do we call the first 10 amendments of the Constitution?

2. The House of Representatives has how many voting members?

3. What Cabinet-level agency advises the President on foreign policy?

4. Who is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court?

5. What does it mean that the U.S Constitution is a constitution of limited powers?

6. What is the current minimum wage in the U.S?

7. What are "inalienable rights"?

8. Name one of the writers of the Federalists Papers.

9. What territory did the United States buy from France in 1803?

10. What is the tallest mountain in the United States?

Okay, there you are. Now don't go and google for the answers, just be honest if you don't know. I'll post the answer later.

Thanks in advance if you take the time to try and answer this questions...that is, if you can!

My attempt, not looking at anything but the original questions:

1. What do we call the first 10 amendments of the Constitution? The Bill of Rights

2. The House of Representatives has how many voting members? 435

3. What Cabinet-level agency advises the President on foreign policy? The State Department

4. Who is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court? John Roberts

5. What does it mean that the U.S. Constitution is a constitution of limited powers? I'm not exactly sure what this is referring to, but I think it might have something to do with expressed powers vs implied powers? As in, it can only directly state so many things? I don't know.

6. What is the current minimum wage in the U.S.? I know it varies state by state, but I believe the national minimum wage is still the disturbingly low $5.15.

7. What are "inalienable rights"? Rights that are considered inherent and that cannot be abridged; it is believed that since they are not granted by humans or society, they cannot be taken away by humans or society. The famous ones listed in the Declaration of Independence are "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

8. Name of the writers of the Federalist Papers. Alexander Hamilton.

9. What territory did the United States buy from France in 1803? All I know is, this one was called the Lousiana Purchase. So...Louisiana? Except Lousiana wouldn't have been a state yet. The territory that would become Louisiana?

10. What is the tallest mountain in the United States? That's not history or politics, that's geography. Not fair. No clue.

2. The House of Representatives has how many voting members?

Er, a lot.

John Edwards, right?

5. What does it mean that the U.S Constitution is a constitution of limited powers?

No clue.

$6 something, isn't it?

7. What are "inalienable rights"?

Didn't learn that one in US History.

9. What territory did the United States buy from France in 1803?

Eh, 7 out of 10 answered isn't too bad. Not sure how many of those are right, though.
