Albuquerque Region: #3 Gonzaga d. #5 Georgia Tech
Syracuse Region: #1 North Carolina d #2 Connecticut

Well, the hometown Heels won the whole damn thing. Wow. That's ******* awesome. I'll take being wrong for that one. My bracket overall didn't do that bad. It's about in the middle. I looked back and this was my 4th best out of 7. Not too bad.

Well, as the Elite Eight is set, my brackets aren't looking too horrible. Sure, I had Wake Forest, Kansas, and Syracuse making it to the Elite Eight, but other than that, I'm cruising. I made the wise move of changing my Albuquerque champion from Wake Forest to Louisville the day before the Tournament started--as can be seen here, if proof is needed--so my Final Four picks are still going strong. I'm in the 94th percentile on Yahoo, but then again, the average Yahoo user seems to have the smarts of a doorknob.

Luckily, the great thing about the inevitable shockers like Bucknell beating Kansas and Vermont beating Syracuse and anyone in the state of Wisconsin caring about NCAA hoops on March 25 is that nobody foresees them. Thus, just as you think you're doing as horrible as any person can possibly do, you realize you're ahead of all your friends.

I know what you mean. Tucson is pretty big on it, too, but venture outside the city limits and you'll get questions like, "They have college basketball now?"

Well, mit's the second day of the round of 32, and my bracket is offically screwed to Hell. Geez, that sucks. I'm doing the ESPN league, but I'm not doing too hot. I'm 5th in a group of 10. I just picked the wrong upsets. I knew if Vermont was in Albuquerque, that they'd do good, but beating Syracuse was out of the question. I think Washington is a #2, but with Gonzaga and Wake losing, they might make it to the Final 4. Bucknell beating Kansas? Damn. Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the sweet 16? Never in a sane world. Oh well, at least Illinois, Kentucky and my Tar Heels are still in it for now.

I'll almost be glad when this whole thing is over, just so I'll be able to think about other things again. I feel like a five-year-old who's going to Disneyland on Thursday.

Anyway, are you on Yahoo's Tournament Pick'em or anything similar? It's pretty cool, I'm just annoyed that you can't see other people's bracket picks until after the pick deadline on Thursday morning.

You're right about Washington. It seems they were so desperate for a Western 1 Seed they were willing to elevate Washington (which deserves to be about a 3 Seed, in my opinion) to 1 Seed status. It seems as though it could have just as easily happened to Gonzaga or Arizona. Albuquerque is definitely the upset region, in any case. As for the rest, nothing to do but sit back and wait to see how it plays out. I'm just irked that they scheduled school opposite the opening round. Again.

Anyone else out there interested? Anyone else out there even know what we're talking about?

Well, I live on Tobacco Road, it's like a religion to me. Now for comparison. We can agree on Illinois winning. I think they've got it. I don't think Carolina will get that far (even though I'm a Heels fan). If they did, Illinois would make the Heels run a halfcourt game and overwork Sean May. I think Washingto got that #1 seed because they didn't want to give the ACC 3 #1 teams. Wake Forest was the next team in line. Either Paul or Gray is out, so I don't see them beating West Virginia. Gonzaga is a big, grind it out team in a small, scrappy region, that's why I think they'd win. I see Louisville losing to Louisana-Lafayette and Kansas losing to Utah. But it's plausible and it could very well beat mine in a head-to-head.

Nice to see someone else interested. Here's how I see the men playing out:

Elite 8:
Chicago Region: (1) Illinois & (3) Arizona
Albuquerque Region: (2) Wake Forest & (4) Louisville
Syracuse Region: (1) North Carolina & (3) Kansas
Austin Region: (2) Kentucky & (4) Syracuse

Final Four: Illinois, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Kentucky

Final Game: Illinois vs North Carolina

2005 Champion: Illinois

So yeah, very similar to yours, except for the Albuquerque Region. At least we can (seemingly) agree that Washington is overrated. Being an Arizona fan, I have ample reason to hate them.
