I read about a similar thing where a scammer tried to get a laptop someone was selling on eBay without paying for it. The victim, instead, sent him a homemade laptop composed of a binder and glued-on wooden keys. The scammer ended up paying an exorbitant amount of money in customs fees for what amounted to a box of garbage. I wish I could remember where the link for that is...

These fine gents have saved me from more Nigerian money scams than I can count. Now that I know every thread containing a link is a Nigerian money scam, I have been able to safeguard the remains of my former fortune, the vast majority of which was, unfortunately, lost in Nigerian money scams. My only regret is that they didn't get to me sooner.
