I want to know if people really think Gay Silence Day is effective or if it is Slacktivism, activism for a cause that is based solely on making the activist feel good about themeselves. I know it's a bit late for this topic, but I'm really bored and want to find something to post. Look up.

I really don't like the Day of Silence. I get what it's supposed to represent, but I think there are so many more effective ways than a campaign of silence. I've done it and yes it's hard, but I don't think it's as impactful for other people. After 2 years of doing it in high school, I encouraged our campus GSA to put on actual events and present to people, instead of being a silent force. I think it's too hard to get enough people to participate where it's an actual impact on a general school day. I really don't think any form of activism is 'slacktivism' because it always tries to get something accomplished.
