not many people notice that there are gays in school or they just don't know they are there or they know them and they make fun of them. not many gays want them to know cause some people hate gays and they some times make their lives miserable thats why there are not many gays at the open. some gays are a bit scared to let someone know or they can't experss them selves to tell someone. on 5th grade kids hated me cause they thought that I was gay {even thought I was} I told them that I wasn't gay just cause I wanted them to stop bothering me. that is why some gays don't tell people that they are gay in school cause they are just scared or shy Roll Eyes and that's why there are not many gays out on the open.

I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry. Uhm...anyone who is gay know this. Anyone who isn't gay and is on this website either knows this, or is too stubborn to accept the reality that gays exist because their mind is jammed in neutral somewhere in Bibleworld. I love you for being open about your sexuality though crayzboy! Welcome to YouthNoise. *huggles*

Agreed. Although, I do think a gay school would be beneficial to gay students meeting other gay students, but that's more what college is for.

By creaeting alternate schools only teaches kids they don't have to deal with people different than them. They can just wait for some adult to make then go away. Segregation is not the answer. Tolerance is.

Then simply don't be around when people start doing or talking. Or be honest and ask them (kindly) to stop because you aren't comfortable with it. Personally I would do the first because then you might run into discrimination issues, as Monkee brought up (that straight people are "allowed" PDA privileges).

Preach!

The original draft of The Lord of the Rings featured Chuck Norris instead of Frodo Baggins. It was only 5 pages long, as Chuck roundhouse-kicked Sauron's ass halfway through the first chapter.

you know to be gay and be open about it is a challenge and people will not be accepting to it at first but if you give them time they will! i have a couple gay friends that have openly told people that they are gay! it took sometime to get used to it but you have to know that thats there descion in life and how they want to live! you have to know that you cant change who they are and who they want to be! i mean ya people at school are going to be hard on people who are gay its just because they arent used to it or they just dont understand it really! even religous people are gay i mean come on if that doesnt say anything then what does? if you gay your gay and people might not approve of it but thats just because they are immature and dont have an open mind about this kind of thing!

you live in MA, yogore, remember?

Right, I do, but I also live in the more conservative part (we vote republican here in suburbia).

But I have guilt, like I'm dissappointing them
I think that comes from the fact that youshouldn't have to worry that your parents won't like you anymore. it much easier if you take the attitude that, "if they don't like you for who you really are, then what sort of parent are they anyway?"

At the very least, I'm extremely anxious.
It's so much easier once you get it over with and don't have to worry about people finding out, but then again everyone has to wait until they are ready.

Mine too. I don't get in trouble for things that would get the straight boys in trouble at my school Smile

What guilt? There should be no guilt over being homosexual. If your family cannot accept who you are, that's their problem, not yours. While I can understand not telling them bewcuase you need their money, I don't think anyone should be scared about it.

Again, this is so odd hearing all of it from someone younger than myself... But I have guilt, like I'm dissappointing them - I mean, I never made a fucking choice, but that is and will be their feelings, so I have guilt. At the very least, I'm extremely anxious.

As for the EOE issue, you live in MA, yogore, remember? Not the little red state of New England.

WE are sooo open to gays in my school, I got hugged by three openly gay guys just today. I love gay guys, they are just better people. Better huggers, better dressers, nicer. I am a fan, and I don't know them in any way other than school... then again, my school is quite open to just about everything...

the guilt eats you from the inside out and it can be even more difficult if you are dependent on them and scared of any homophobic backlash. Definitely.

I haven't seen or heard it in any of the Equal-Opportunity-Employment announcements or on the posters.
I don't think there is very much discrimination in the work place. Some places refuse to give partner benefits, but it is extremely rare to find a case where someone can be fired based on sexual orientation.

Oh come on, clpo, I thought you knew that our federal government is still under the impression that it's a choice, so their shouldn't be anything not barring them from finding jobs... Just like pregnancy (well.. that one could be disputed), religion, retaliation or some kinds of past transgressions.
