This is a HUGE digression, but since I created this board, I guess I'm entitled, right?
I just wanted to give everyone the good news. I'm getting married in about two months! My man is of course veggie, not yet vegan though.
I'm so saturated with bliss, I just wanted everyone to know!
Ok continue with the discussion

Many companies are finding other ways to test products etc. w/o using animals. One reason is b/c some people are refusing to buy them if they test on animals and another is b/c I think it was 1996 but they released a medicine that was tested on many animals but I think over 1,000 people died from it b/c even though it was safe on animals it wasn't for humans. We're different and so for example, some companies have these replications of a human eye that works much better and they test on that. But some companies test on animals just b/c and others only test on them b/c for that certain product, a non-animal testing thing hasn't been approved yet and so if they want to release the product they have to test on the animal. I dunno, I'm against animal testing but I like the way things are moving Some animal testing facilities are very cruel while others aren;t. But their are also some wacky extremists who want to murder the scientists, but then again some of those scientists are the nicest. But some are kind to the animals so it's diff. all around but we are moving forward.

Okay here is my thing.
I'm not against animals being killed for food.
I am against animals being killed for fun and games. Such as a sport or something, I'm against that.
I'm against killing animals for style and such things.
I'm not against all animal testing but I am against some of it.
For every testing that is done to the animals, I want them to be treated with some respect and not treated like they are a piece of worthless trash. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't know a lot of things we know today so just have some common kindness for them.
I'm against animals being used for a sport such as dog racing and **** fighting.
I'm surely against animal abuse of any kind.
I think we should think of other ways to test things rather than testing animals. I'm not sure if they are already doing this. I'm just saying, if not then we should. At least try!
and that's it....
Bye N Have a nice day

The only sensible response is cannibalism. You don't have to murder the people, but after that it's just food.
Consistency people, consistency...

Really? How is someone eating vegetables from their garden their entire life responsible for killing animals? I guess you might be right about the animal rights/welfare thing, but I was referring to animal cruelty in general. Doesn't that fall under animal rights as well???

hey iceland.. you might have more knowledge on the other thread we have been debating on, but this one is all me.. YES vegetarian and vegan diets ARE responsible for millions of animal deaths as well as horrible suffering.. do you deny this? if so you have no clue about what you are saying.. granted i think desert eagle talks trash but he was right about that part..
""There's nothing wrong with saying we can't senselessly kill animals in cruel ways. Thus animal rights is justified.""
see here... you are confusing animal rights with animal welfare, which seems to be a common problem.. not senselessly killing animals in a cruel way is animal welfare... not ever killing them at all ever is animal rights.. there is a difference.. but then again animal rights makes no sense and is full of lies and hypocritical ideas and people.
here is something funny to think about.. animal rights is AGAINST animals in entertainment, yet animal rights groups PRAISE movies like legally blonde 2 because they were about someone fighting for animal rights.. you would think they would be against that movie because some of its main stars were animals in entertainment.. i guess they are only against it when it does not involve them... can you say hypocrite?

Did you actually imply that vegetarians are the ones who slaughter animals? That's just not true...
And there is a problem when the human population of the earth suddenly explodes, blanketing the earth, razing forests and wreaking havoc on the entire planet's ecosystem.
There's nothing wrong with saying we can't senselessly kill animals in cruel ways. Thus animal rights is justified.
