How would you like it if suddenly you were told that you’re not allowed to be straight and be married? Or if going out into public and held hands with a member of the opposite sex was disgusting. And even saying that you were dating a member of the opposite sex was inappropriate. This is what a gay, lesbian, or bisexual person faces, plus loads of other forms of discrimination, everyday.
So can a gay person be accepted in a community? Some people say that being gay is a sin, or makes them unloved in God’s eyes. Thinking that way can make you become a “judge” to what is okay in other people’s lives. Being judgmental can hurt you just as much as it does the people being judged. After a while hating can impact everything you say and do and eventually words or actions can just slip out.
Getting married is an exciting thing that almost everyone wants to experience, so why limit the different people that can go through this? Gay people are just as loving, caring and affectionate as straight people. They just want to be with someone they feel strongly about.
Gay and straight people should have the rights to have children. We shouldn’t tell a child with two mommies or daddies that the way their parents are is unacceptable or unnatural. We should love, care, and help support them and their families when they’re in need of it. And if their parents are not, in the laws eyes, married, they won’t have legal rights to live with one parent if the other parent dies.
So if gay, lesbian, or bisexual people can’t hold hands, kiss, or get married then why should anybody get that privilege? We are all humans, and we are all loved. People who are “gay” aren’t different than any geek or jock; they’re just given another name or put into a stereotypical group. None of us are “normal”, so in our own ways we’re all different. So why say gay people can’t be seen as the same as a straight person? I leave you this thought and let you decide what’s right in your mind. GAY PRIDE!

I find having pride in one's sexuality utterly absurd. It's like having pride in attached earlobes or extra vertebrae.

Having said that, welcome to yn. Please try to keep your gay-related comments to the countless existing lgbt-related threads.
