Hey, I just wondered who of you out there feel
like you are being profiled because of your religion, clothing, hair, schooling, etc.
I'm a Christian,I don't wear 'stylish clothes',
I keep my hair long [anywhere fromthe middle of my back to my waist],I'm also homeschooled and many kids think I'm stupid because of it.
Please reply and let me know how you deal with this... and if you think I'm actually stupid.

quite frankly, i DONT tihnk your stupid. i think everyone else is. just because you dont have cute clothes and a good haircut doesnt make you a bad person. and having those things doesnt make you a good person either. profiling by appearances is a sign of a growing problem in this country. IGNORANCE.

I think everyone is in some way...unless you live away from civilization in a cave...And I don't think you're stupid. Sometimes it isn't a choice to be how you are.

I'm profiled as "ice-cold." I got over the dream of a high school love affair some of my peers pursue with relish, and am seriously uninterested in the boys at my school. I dress in more professional clothing, keep a perfect GPA with plenty of ambition as a sidedish, don't let people mess around with me, and I'm plenty fine with keeping my hands to myself and my pants on. So now I'm considered a frigid bitch, and I magically no longer have a heart. What happiness is mine. Some people have also cataloged me as "one of those damn lesbians" and thus not as good as them. I have no problem with lesbians, and I hate the "better than thou"-ness of all of it, but it makes me mad that not wanting a boyfriend in highschool means that you must be lesbian!

Acceptance is a huge problem these days. People don't like you because your religion is 'different' or you wear something that isn't 'the norm'. Well define different. The only thing that is different about someone else is that they are different from you. Who are we to dictate what is normal in our society, when what we think is normal is biased to our own views. Yet somehow differences are wrong, and that is very sad indeed.

If you're being yourself, it doesn't really matter what anybody else thinks. Be you and love you.

I'm wiccan but I don't tell those who'll judge or violate it. But even that, I was still seen in Elementry School as a Satanist since all I wore was black trench coats and black wavy pants and black boots. I use to sit in recess alone with a few kids that looked out of place while reading or writing. And yeah, labels, profiles and so on will never change. It's just human nature if you think about it.

I dislike that the majority of people believe that atheists are no good punks who worship the devil on black sundays or whatever, and are unintelligent and go about shooting people and listening to marylin manson.

A very exagerated stereotype, but you know, it happens.

And besides, you don't believe in satan if you're atheist.

Yeah, atheists are profiled all the time, but then so are radical christians, and every other which way why and who.

It's just a matter of opinion, but I think absolutely everyone has profiled someone and will be profiled if they haven't been yet, but if you say you haven't, you just didn't know about it...

Why don't we all just stop the profiling and cover the earth with love and adoration?

(It's been a long day....)

im profiled as a "loser." Because i have somewhat good grades, and i dont wear stylish clothes like everyone else and their dog around here. I also keep to myself a lot at school.

Which is pretty sad, considering that im a very energetic, and fun person to be around. According to my friends.

Yeah.

I hate people thinking I'm slutty because I'm "blond" and because I look American. First off, I'm not slutty and secondly I'm not blond. It's called light brown people, look it up! If I was like crazy hot and dressed even remotely sexy, I wouldn't get so pissed off at people but I'm not that good looking, I just don't look like I'm local (Jordan) so people think I might be easy. It's... weird. And it does piss me off that I can dress more conservatively than every single one of my friends and then get weird freaks trying to pick me up, especially because some of my friends are just so beautiful. Gah..

Aside from getting weird strangers hitting on me, the only way I'm profiled is by people who think that because I get good grades I must be obsessed with studying. I'm not, I couldn't care less about my grades, but because I don't like the people I go to school with people assume I'm just megadork or something. Honestly I have better things to do than study (mainly lying around on my ass) and if what you chose to do in your free time is your hair then I think that gives me the right to mock you.

People are profiled simply because it is human nature to be unnecessarily cruel to others. Kids especially, in a desperate effor to fit in and not be left out, will make fun, call names, and treat whoever is a minority like an outcast. Not even because they believe in what they say, which is the funny thing. Most do it to be funny, and it is nothing more than that. This is in accordance with survival of the fittest in a way. The stronger you make yourself feel in a school environment, the stronger you think you become.
