WOW! That was great, thanx for explaining, I think I really understand where you are coming from. Don't think I am trying to pick on you for home schooling, I just noticed alot of the Christian kids were home schooled...saw a trend. Parents sometimes become way to involved with making sure their kids don't grow up like them. I've even gone through the same thing, my father was so dead set that I didn't blow my education like he did, that if I got anything less then an "A" I would get punished(yes that includes an A-). quote: I wish I could go to public school now. I really do. My mom won't let me.
Hey like I said my school was really bad...who knows you might be better off.

ok well...
Most parents homeschool their children because they want their children to get a better education. Some people do it because they do not want their children to be influenced by others opinions (or religions). My parents homeschooled me because my mom was a serious nerd at her school and she was teased because of it. They wanted me to be smart like that and everything, but did not want me to be teased like my mom had esperienced. also, my dad was verbally abused by his dad, so I think that keeping me home was an effort to build good relationships with my rents. Of course, my parents don't say it in words like that - in fact my dad doesn't even talk about his childhood, I have to glean it from a few sentences here and there - but that's basically it. Not every homeschooler is a Christian, though that is definitely the majority.
Yes, it has taken me a year for me to adapt to the youth group at my church. Yes, at my church! It's like a huge game of Sims and I didn't know how to play. It's been only recently, very recently actually, that I feel like I know how everyone thinks and acts and how to respond. They never outright teased me - they are Christians after all - but it felt like they didn't understand why I was homeschooled. Like it was my choice.
Am I injured in some way? No...I have a tendency to develop sinus infections and ear infections, but that's about it...
I wish I could go to public school now. I really do. My mom won't let me. If there's ANY other homeschoolers out there, I really really encourage you to get out into the real world any way you can. Maybe not something as drastic as going to school, but I'm in a ton of plays and stuff and that really helps me get to know other people. We just joined a homeschool co-op - we go to *school* once a week - there's about - I guess 25 - families that come and the moms together decide what theyre going to cover in the year and what curriculum to use, and then the moms teach. It was very odd for me on Thursdays this year, because on Thursdays I went to co-op where I was the - I dunno how to phrase this - I was the most worldly person there. Everyone there thinks I'm funny for some reason, so now I have this reputation as this worldly witty person at co-op. But then Thursday nights I went to youth group where I was a lame nerd who was self-conscious and quiet. Now I feel that I sorta fit in at both places - I'm still not as loud as the other girls, and I don't always understand what they're talking about, but I feel like they've finally accepted me even if they have to explain things sometimes.
I talked waaaayyyy too much. Does anyone understand? at all? I'm sorry I really need to learn how to shut up.
Lots of love, Lynne

no I don't know if they are Nazis or not?
but really are you home schooled because they are affraid you may convert to some other religion? Are you injured in some way? Do kids make fun of you?? I'm really just trying to understand, I'm not saying home schooling is bad, my school was terrible. I guess I'm wondering do they feel you'll get a better education or the education they want you to get? I guess I'm just a little leary, because if I learned from just my parents...I dunno...I wouldn't be even close to who I am. I guess I just think it's good to learn from many points of view.

Wait...you're "pierced"? like pierced ears? or like eyebrows? Can I ask this question without being grossed out?
And yeah, everyone is *profiled* for whatever reason by whatever group, because the preps are hated by the punks, the punks are hated by the preps, the druggies are kinda...well they dont really care as long as they have their stuff, the Christians are hated by all, even by other Christians, and the homeschoolers...well the homeschoolers are kinda screwed. SO just try to stay out of everyone's way and make em laugh.

I'm Wiccan, but no one seems to really care about that. The only thing I get judged on is the way I look. Certain things about me...chest size, and the fact that I'm pierced, cause people to make wrong assumptions about me. Well, they're mostly wrong.

I wear subliminal message t-shirts, I'm a prep. I am catholic, I'm weird. I could mention more but I don't want to. Why do we label people?

well, yes i am religiously discriminated...i belong to one of the most misunderstood religious groups-witchcraft. not many people understand it right away and there are a lot of misconceptions about it, not to mention a lot of people belonging to the majority religions like christianity, roman catholicism, so on and so forth, who don't even want to give it a chance or even learn about what it really is. i don't want to convert a christian to my religion, but i do want understanding and respect. and people of all kinds (atheists, jews, and ya know...etc.) have treated me like an outcast because of what i believe and what i practice. i don't blame christianity or any other religion at all, but there are a lot of intolerant and close-minded people who think that they know all the answers when they haven't even got life figured out for themselves, they have just been believing what they have been taught for generations, not really thinking for themselves about all the similarities and things that different religions have in common, like a common goal of love for one another and the like. people have told me that i am going to hell and people have told me that my religion is not real, but what they don't know is that it is real for me and for milions of other people, and that it WORKS FOR ME. i don't claim to have all the answers to all of life's questions and know exactly what happens when we die, but i believe that all religions essensially lead to the same center of spiritual enlightenment and understanding of god/goddess/divine, the world around us, and how to live our lives in a fulfilling way. i think people of different religions should learn to accept that there will be people with different beliefs and different ways of life. that doesn't neccessarily make anyone wrong or right, it just makes them different. maybe from now on, when people find out that i am a wiccan and a witch, they should first learn what it is and that it is not evil or worshiping of the devil. we all worship the same god, just a different vision of him/her and in a different way. if people could realize that, there would be a lot less religious discrimination towards me and people like me of minority religions. -e.k. p.s. if someone does want to learn more about my religion for understanding, please visit the following: www.witchvox.comwww.wicca.netwww.modernwiccan.com

Hey i'm 13 i'm a christian AND i'm homeschooled! I get judged for how I look and for my religion, people point at me people laugh at me and stuff i think it's stupid but like i don't look that diffrent lol..I have a Mohawk for people who don't know what that is (my hair is shaved on the sides and in the middle my hair is stuck up with hair spray). Umm i don't look PUNK but i guess i kind of wear punk stuff but not like alot lol i ono..Well yea so i think people should stop judging people for how they look and stuff cause it's stupid. like you have to get to know the person before you judge them. They don't have to look any certain way to be there friend. -Saphraine

i have been profiled by the things i have worn and once even for the way i look. i hate it, when people who dont know you take one look at your face and think that they know what your like, what your about and the way you think. people like that are cloed minded i dont think will get very far in life being that way.

i've been misjudged all the time. Parents have shied away from me since i'm not getting confirmed into the catholic religion and my parents think being an "independent monotheisist" is not good enough. My clothes seem to **** everyone off ( i'm still trying to figure out how baggy pants can ruin someone else's day. It's sad) People REALLY hate the fact that i'm not goth, not punk, AND not prep. they can't stand the fact that they can't classify me into a group. So , instead, they spend all their time trying to get me to "cross over" to the prep group by making fun of me and insulting me whenever they can.

Everyone is profiled for nearly everything they are or do. Sometimes you've just got to suck it up. If you feel you're unfairly labelled, hold your head high and prove them wrong about you… and if they don't get the point they aren't worth your time anyway. Bex

Yeah, um, I'm Jewish in a mega-Christian New england town, so people don't understand why I don't go to CCD or mass. Plus, my parents are intermarried (one Catholic, one Jewish), so I get judged on that too by both Jews and Christians. And clothing, well,I'm not judged on my clothing as much as I am on my personality(charming, isn't it).

I'm profiled as many things I bet, but in the end I only fall into one or two. The one called 'outspoken' and the other called '*lil* angel(*****'. LOL. I don't think you're stupid at all. If anything, you get a better learning experience because you have the benefit of opinion. Whoever teaches you can express they're opinion and teach you to express yours. You don't get to do that as often as you'd think in a public school.

Me, profiled? Oh yeah...ALL the time. I'm judged by what other people call my "alternative" appearance. I'm judged by the music I listen to...because it's not exactly all that mainstream rap and pop. I'm judged for being an atheist, when in reality I'm very tolerant and open-minded about others' religious beliefs. I'm judged on my opinions on a variety of subjects, my outlook on life, and my attitude. This is what happens when you attend an all girls catholic school in NYC, my friends.
