Ha...I just got back from the beach and the Beach Mart down there has this HUGE, billboard like sign that says: "American-owned. We pay taxes and [something else I can't remember] here!" I'll finish it when I can remember the rest. I thought it was hilarious at first---the sheer audacity of any redneck to construct such a sign and put it up----but I guess it isn't very nice...and very ignorant. And, yeah, I tend to associate those things with Republicans. But I'm just as proud to be an American!

You know what I really hate? US of A. Gah, that grates on my nerves so much. And big tags that say "Proudly made in America!" For all I know, they mean South America, but the garish red, white, and blue color scheme makes it obvious, I suppose. And of course, this all reminds me of an old MAD magazine of mine that has a section entitled "Misguided Attempts at Patriotism" which includes a guy spitting in a hamburger he was grilling because the customer "looked like an Arab" and a man attaching a tiny little American flag on his gigantic gas-guzzling SUV. Hilarious.
The more you know, the less you don't know.

I don't associate those things with Republicans. I associate them with toothless, uneducated, barely literate rednecks.

I don't know why this is, but lately it seems as if it has gotten worse.
Does anybody else feel this way?
I guess Republicans are proud of Americas history. There has never been a case of a Republicans refusing to say the Pledge or read from the Declaration of Independence, because it was "insulting" or was "offensive to minorities." Democrats, on the other hand, have.
