The easy answer to the question is that people are, on a whole, very ignorant. Thus, when Americans see that Chirac's administration has repeatedly acted irrationally against the US, they are angry, and rightfully so. However, being the dumb and quick-to-leap people that we are, we then extend the politics of the situation into a whole generalization about the "French" and the "Americans." This is what causes our "Liberty Fries" and "Freedom Toast." Instead of just hating Chirac, we decide to hate the entire country of France because we're dumb, dumb people. Pathetic, n'est-ce pas?

I don't get why everyone is so mad at france.I think just because of what they did doesn't call for changing FRENCH fries and FRENCH toast to patriotic names.If we had such a problem with the names, why did we leave them like that in the first place?

Where did you get this information? Crude oil is not up that much, I don't know what oil has to do with anything. Gold went up after the 9/11 attack as investors pulled out of business that may be targets or suffer effects, gold is always a safe haven...hence it went up. Cost of living goes up every year...everywhere. And the American dollar is down...way down, both the Euro and the Yen are double it's worth......

And you can't blame America if a country doesn't get AID, there are many countries in the United Nations, they all have a vote and they all have a say.
