There was an ad in my Univerisites paper that had a white baby and asked will she be a minority soon? I thought this was so ironic. It talked about how whites are soon becoming extinct, because of immigration and non-whites having babies. It wanted us to think about it whether this white baby will still be the superior race. Of course it caused a major uproar and the newspaper denied they even knew how it got through. I just thought this was so sad and was wondering if whites really thought that? We didn't have a discussion on it, but is it possible for whites to become minorites? If so being a minority is supposed to be great and really bring diversity to this country. This ad clearly stated that we should stop immigration completely (legal and illegal) so whites will still be the dominant race. In this country is it really better to be white? I feel like this is something that should be discussed, because their are still people out there who believe that and we have come so far in this country that we need to continue to push forward.

It is not always simple to put someone into one specific race category. It seems to be common knowledge that people with light skin of European descent are white, but what about Asians? Hispanics? What race are they?

I don't care if white Anglo-Saxons become the minority, I have been in situations before where I am in the minority. What you have to realize is that it is not like there will be a MAJORITY. There will just end up relatively even percentages of race/ethnicity groups.

I don't know that it is better to be white in the US. I don't really have a lot to judge it by. I grew up in the "whitest" city in the US, where there were 8 black students at my high school (one of which was on homecoming court senior year and I think senate VP). In that regards I did not have very much exposure to the differences between races. Now I still live in my hometown, and I go to school in the "blackest" city in the US (Detroit). Go figure I guess...

I dont think white's are becoming a minority but i think they are ........Lets put it this way white is no category . There are blacks and hispanics and a name for everybody but whites will never have that .

I actually do think white has become the minority. I don't think it's nessesarily (sp?) a bad thing. The only thing is that, and I guatentee you, whites shall never get minority benefits when it comes to college. I think this shift is in who is more "dominant" is fairly important and should be a welcome change. And if you don't like it move somewhere else, right?
