When I think of Texans, I think of President Bush and Hank from King of the Hill..

Are you like either of those people, Joey?

luvabug, you tramp. Show me where in any post that I have made it even comes close to being "racist."

The post just two, three down was not racist at all. My two threads with a "colored" theme are not racist - so stop with your regurgitation of this crap.

And I'm white. A Texan. A reporter for a newspaper that "tells it like it is."

If being blunt, open and honest is being racist, then you need a brain transplant.

Well, well, well...

Complaints by residents in a nearby town (next-door neighbor town) got the attention of the Border Patrol and I think the U.S. Customs Service - oh, and the local police department.

Tons and tons of Mexicans - or people of Hispanic descent - would just stand at the corner of this gas station off the I-35 "NAFTA highway" waiting for work.

Well, turns out the complaints got so bad, that these three agencies dug around and busted 43 of them for being illegal.

I have no problem whatsoever in immigrants coming to our country. No problems at all.

But there's a citizenship test - TAKE it. And there's a language, English - LEARN it.

Sigh.

A word for only blacks? Do you mean that I would approve of blacks saying it? If so: you're rediculous becasue I jsut spent the lsat three posts explicitly saying
quote:
Anyway, as far as racial slurs go: I don't use them and I don't really accept it from anyone.

Anyone.

what I'm saying is you make the word a word for only blacks, there fore continuing to support racism and racist terms. And end to labels is an end to racism.

I don't completely understand what you're asking. But, to restate: I don't see any reason to say it, and I personally don't believe it's "okay" for anyone to say it.

I was under the distinct impression "oreo" referred to "black on the outside, white on the inside";

Not where I am from, I dated a couple black/white girls, people used to say it to them.

Zleepy

That is the truth though. People try to use that to make us mad so we joke about it. Another barrier we have yet to break down.......

That's my theory, glad someone agrees, everyone is too uptight. Mostly people who don't live in cities...

Dante Again

What would make you think Billy wasn't included in that? I explicitly said no one gets my endorsement for it, not Billy and not his friends either.

So a black guy calling a white guy ni gga' is not ok? When is a label not a label for a specific race? If you make it a black thing, it is a black thing...to me, in most cities...it isn't.

If I don't take this personally and just "let is slide", who should I expect to stand up for me?

Exactly!

See, before marine started the "JoeyDauben Racial Slur" thread, I said the phrase, "n*gga, please."

All hell broke loose after that. It was like I suddenly started getting into the slave trade or something.

See Dante, you're an effing hypocrite your damn self. You will rail against me, but you won't say a damn thing to Barrio about him talking about calling his friends stuff that is politically incorrect.

I thrive on controversy, and that's obvious, so yeah, it could be just to **** people like you off - but when you reverse the situation, things are different. Too bad you're too stupid to see this.

If people were to just lighten up a bit and stop taking things so freakin' personal, we wouldn't have these huge threads.

I was under the distinct impression "oreo" referred to "black on the outside, white on the inside"; i.e. Clarence Thomas or black police officers involved in excessive beatings.

Anyway, as far as racial slurs go: I don't use them and I don't realy acept it from anyone. The words have different powers though and you can't just write that off. There is a very certain negative value and stunning shock involved when you hear someone say "******" with conviction. If you don't feel that power, maybe you should. It should be a warning to those who would rather forget history, or those hypocrites who would wish us to dwell eternally on teh words of our "founding fathers" but when confronted with the history and legacy of slavery which built the contry and enabled advancement simply say "get over it already".

Richard Pryor used to throw around "******" like it was nothing. He went to Africa, looked around and said to himself, "I don't see any ni*gers here." From then on he wouldn't use the word.
I look around and I don't see any k*kes, nigg*rs, or 'spics. You might, I don't.

err refer to my post about calling my friends that(blacks can't drive), yes you have to be close I don't recommend trying it on strangers

but adding the "er" at the end and not saying it with an "a" is all the difference!

Zleepy

have you ever been called a honkey vato or something stupid? Don't know why I care, just was thinking about black/white and how people call em' "oreos".

People, pay attention to what zleepy just said, two/three posts down.

It's funny when "one of them" do it to themselves, but if someone other than him, say a White man...then ooooh no, we cannnnn't have that.

It goes back to the n-word. Blacks can call themselves that, but God help us all if a White person calls them one.

Effing hypocritical filth.

it's not a big deal. canadians say eh? why is that??? who cares. truckers in california stare back at you when you look at them, truckers in washington don't. why is that??? it doesn't matter, it's no big deal. people in bolivia don't just stare, they try to hug you, or touch your arm or something if you're of the opposite sex. why is that??? it doesn't matter, it's no big deal. you honestly think someone is going to tell you why mexicans stare? how should they know? texans brag, californians rule, new yorkers don't smile...mexicans stare. it's no big deal.
