yes billy, i will inform these people what your name means
Billy Barrio.
Barrio means ghetto, projects, "low-income housing". In mexico, if you were poor, you don't live in the ghetto, you live in the Barrio.

uptown, I will translate:
"Don't you realize that asking these non-politically correct questions gets people upset and angry?"
Yes, I do, but I don't like PC thought-control.
It's an issue (staring) - lots of people think like I do, but are too afraid to say anything.

Joey:
Don't know if you were talking to me but i wasn't calling you a racist or anything. I just disagreed with you telling hispanic pride to shut up. Not that saying "shut up" is the BIGGEST deal in the world but i just agreed with Teddy when she said that saying "shut up" is basically telling that person to not express her opinion. Which is pretty hypocritical of you since you always defend your right to express yours. That was all i was saying.

Well, you don't listen to anything at all. So, repition is neccesary. This isn't about Political Correctness. It's about rascism, silly Libertarian.
What the hell does your made-up hispanic girlfriend have to do with anything? I mean, there's nothing rascist about having a relationship with someone of a different race. Unless, of course, you constantly beat her for being hispanic. But really....were you seriously trying to make a point or something?

How valiant you are! When you refuse to back down, your standing up for what you believe in! Abrasiveness, brashness, and a lack of understanding.

I thought that was a good bit. Too bad you ignored it.
If we were the "PC Patrol" we wouldn't use racial insults, i.e. "crakcer".

The same could be said for the "n-word," considering many blacks still use that anyway.
But that's not really the point.
If the PC Patrol really wants to practice what it preaches, then it will have to abide by its own rules.
And back to the subject at hand: so am I "targeting minorities" if I have a half-hispanic girlfriend?

To elaborate, the slang term "cracker" which presents itself as offensive comes from the period of time when the white plantation owners in the South (circa 1800s+) used to "crack" the whip on slaves.
We have no slaves today, so why bother using the term, eh?

Joey, the censor is automated, and like Teddy said, certain words are only offensive when morons use them out of context.

wildflower, why don't you read the original post and try to answer it for us instead of extending this thing as just me "targeting minorities."
I started it half-seriously, but it's grown into this whole "JoeyDauben is a racist" debate.
It's ridiculous.

honestly, i think you all need to shut up, and stop getting in each other's faces. it's really annoying, and childish. oh, and joey, it seems like you do things to deliberatly **** people off, and start controversy. now, who is the immature one? also, mexicans aren't the only ones who stare. everyone does, i live in southern california, and there is more diversity here in la than anywhere else i have ever been. ok, just because someone stares doesn't mean that they are going to jump you, not every hispanic person is in a gang or is threatened by rich little white boys, so stop thinking that you are tough by saying someone wants to fight you, you aren't that threatening. maybe they think you are pretty, or interesting. don't dwell on it, get over, and keep walking.

This is why I think people abuse their Freedom Of Speech. They use normal inoffensive words and turn them into this negative offensive thing.
Examples: Hoe Example: Cracker Example: pimp Example: Even retard Example: Gay
and the list of words goes on

Did Joey ignore my questions? Um, I'm hurt It was a easy question too and he just ignored me. Just like that, flick Teddy away, she is nothing. Um, well Joey is going to ignore this too but I will say it. They might not edit cracker because it also has another meaning to it then just an Offensive Slang and the other meaning is used more oftenly then the offensive slang. Cracker . A thin crisp wafer or biscuit, usually made of unsweetened dough. 2. One that cracks, especially: a. A firecracker. b. A small cardboard cylinder covered with decorative paper that holds candy or a party favor and pops when a paper strip is pulled at one or both ends and torn. c. The apparatus used in the cracking of petroleum. d. One who makes unauthorized use of a computer, especially to tamper with data or programs. Now they probably edit ni**er because it means what people use it for: ****** Offensive Slang 1a. Used as a disparaging term for a Black person: "You can only be destroyed by believing that you really are what the white world calls a ******" (James Baldwin). b. Used as a disparaging term for a member of any dark-skinned people. 2. Used as a disparaging term for a member of any socially, economically, or politically deprived group of people You get what I'm saying? The first thing they said when telling the meaning of ****** is Offensive Slang and cracker could only mean I'm eating a cracker. BYe N Have a nice day

Of all the things I've said, shut up is the one where you guys get all up in arms...geesh.
Well, call me whatever you want; racist, bigot, whatever.
It circumvents the question, "Why do Mexicans stare?"
Now if it weren't so prevalent, I wouldn't have asked it, but since Mexicans do stare - a lot - then I asked the question.
YouthNOISE moderators will bleep out certain "racist" words when I, or someone else write them, but they will allow the word "Cracker?"
What if I were to just start calling the Mexicans sp*cs? What about blacks n*g gaz? What if I started calling Orientals "Slanted Eyes?"
YouthNOISE would "edit" them, or send me a nice little e-mail telling me why they did, yet they don't do a damn thing when someone calls a white person "cracker."
I'm not offended, because quite frankly, I think it's funny, but if YouthNOISE wants to preach diversity and tolerance, they sure as hell better do it to all groups of people.
I go out of my way to "target minorities?" Haha, and I somehow have a sexual insecurity problem now?
This is so childish, yet not surprising.
I've said it over and over and over again; I'm not going to bow down to the Politically Correct, and I'm not going to stop writing controversial stories, statements, ideas.
You can call me all the names you want (so much for "diversity" and "tolerance") but you're not going to stop my Politically Incorrect statements.
The more replies I get, the more fuel you're adding to the fire, people, so keep it up.
This does nothing for your arguments, but it does a lot for what I'm trying to say.

The reason Joey won't answer your question, Teddy, is because he doesn't know the answer. He knows that their is no right reason for telling hispanic pride to shut up. So therefore, he just keeps silent
