Anyway, I think that native-Mexicans are fascinated by the culture and they either admire it, or despise it because they love America but dislike the people here. Most immigrants will stare at people, in general, to observe the customs/take note of the diversity/etc. This includes the Polish, Irish, African, Middle Eastern, and Australian citizens or "visitors" according to what I've seen.

But hey, I'm sure it's different in every place you go. Joey, you're from Texas which is right by the border, and there is obviously going to be a more densely populated group of Mexicans there.

Well, I don't know exactly but here is what I got from some people.

Just a Reminder: SOME OF THIS IS WHAT I THINK, LET ME REPEAT "WHAT I THINK" AND SOME OF THIS IS ACTUALLY TRUE FOR SOME PEOPLE. I'M SAYING "PEOPLE" BECAUSE NOT ONLY MEXICANS DO AND THINK THIS. ALSO I SAY "SOME" BECAUSE NOT EVRYONE DOES THIS.

1. They are not accustomed to you.
2. They are not use to seeing people like you
3. If your walking in a neighborhood with lots of Hispanics, then they will be like "what the heck is that white boy doing here, lets jump him"
(That's why I said a long time about in one of my post that I hope you never come near where I live.)
4. They are racists. They don't like your "KIND" "White little, gay, rich, boys"
5. They are acting tough because they see you as threatening.
6. They don't like you
7. Your ugly as heck
8. Your fly is open
9. You look weird
10. They saw you looking at their girl. Well, they think they saw you looking.
11. A white person did something terrible to them or to a love one in the past so They NOW don't like any white person.
12. They think you have nice shoes, shirt, pants, etc. etc.
13. They are thinking how easy you got it and how much they need to work.
15. They just happen to look your way and couldn't stop staring because they were thinking about something else.
16. They are high and you look funny to them.
17. I really hate myself for doing this: They can't believe that they are seeing a white person.
18. You look cool
19. You did something that was stupid to them now they are staring.
20. They think your girl or the girl that your with is hot.
21. They think your 5o which is the cops
22. You have something that they want
23. You look gay and they don't like gay people.
24. They think because your white, you have money so they are planning to jump you.
25. They want you to be scared

And so on so on etc. etc.

There's is so many other reasons too. Some are kind of bad but some are good and there is no way to really judge intil you ask them face to face, "why are you looking at me?"

Also I wasn't lying Joey, I do mostly stare at the floor. Sometimes I stare at people because they festinate me, I like observing them. But, I stare when they are not looking and if they see me looking, they tend to smile back at me. Maybe because I'm smiling back but I didn't know that I was smiling. Maybe I have a friendly face. Which I doubt that, if I have any face, it would have to be a ugly face. But yea, I mostly look at the floor. See that's another reason that they might be staring.

But that's the problem; nobody wants to say or do anything out of fear that they will get labeled A) a racist, B) a bigot, C) intolerant, D) non-PC and/or whatever other phony label you PC people decide to call us.

Mexicans stare; it could be a cultural thing, it could just be intimidation; I'm curious, so I wanted to know.

I'm not making a generalization about Mexicans; they stare a LOT - and if you aren't aware of that, especially in places you're not familiar with, then obviously you won't know about it.

I was hoping the "multicultural" and "diverse" YouthNOISE would have some Mexican people to be able to answer these questions. But please, feel free to ask your Mexican friends who don't post; I'm curious to see what they say.

He's not generalizing. It's true. Even though other races stare too, the ones that seem to stare the most are Mexicans.

I stare at people and I'm not Mexican. I just like watching people, it fascinates me.

Maybe you have chewing gum stuck on you. Or your label is sticking out. Or you're just funny-lookin'.

The skin colour thing is quite a good point. I used to live in London, where there's a lot of diversity and different skin colours, then I moved to a really rural area with much less racial diversity. I'm used to seeing white faces wherever I go. When I go back to London now I find myself staring - not to be rude, just because I'm not accustomed to it any more. I usually stop when I catch myself because in our culture it's rude to stare. Maybe in Mexican culture it isn't?

Or, they see you as threatening, or something.

Seriously, even if you're not watching them, they will STARE at you. And a lot of the times I've experienced, they've just been, "WTF are you looking at b**ch?" and then start cussing you out in spanish.

You know, the PC crowd jumps all over non-minorities for profiling, but yet they don't say a DANG thing about Mexicans staring ALL the time it seems.

I haven't noticed much of the Mexican girls doing it, but mainly the Mexican guys; I'm afraid if I even look at them wrong, they'll straight-up stab me.

Mexicans are not the only ones who stare and I don't know why they stare, it could be for so many reasons though.
