My grandparents don't like my boyfriend because he's Japanese and African. My mom says it's because it's how they were raised, but this is the twenty-first century! They've barely even met him and they automatically said "no" because of the colour of his skin. Do you think it's okay for people to pass prejudice and racism off as "a product of their raise" instead of what it really is: hate and discrimination?

How you were raised is no excuse. They're grown, reasoning adults. They should be able to figure out how to look past a superficial thing like that.
