Since 9/11 more muslims have been recieving racial comments toward them. But people are putting them in the news like everyday. But, black people have to deal with slavery even now and they didn't make a big deal about it which I think is wrong. What do you think about the whole racism thing.~CTCDreams

The thing is, when you consider the sheer number of people who have been affected by racism due to some sort of governmental reasoning, you are talking about an awful lot of people. Do you have any idea how much $$$ the US government would be shelling out??? Even with just a nominal amount given to each person/family, that would still be a giant chunk of change that needs to be paid for in some way. Either funding will be taken away from a different area, national security or transportation perhaps, they will take away a higher percentage of our paychecks each week, or they will just add to the already skyrocketing defecit... I'm not saying that you guys are wrong, Just putting things into perspective...

As a young member of the human race, I feel that racism is wrong on all levels at every levels. Stereotypes may not necessarily be true but they may not necessarily be false either. I know many people that have low pigmentation in their skin that eat fried chicken and watermelon, just as I, a person of a higher pigmentation, own an iPod, a top of the line cell phone, and most of my clothes are purchased from Hollister, American Eagle, and Aeropostale. On the subject of reparations, it's not really the money that we're looking for. We need closure. The Native-Americans recieved land and money, the Japanese recieved an average of $30,000.00 each. All I really want is for America to say, "I'm sorry, our ancestors were wrong and on behalf of them we apologize. From now on your school districts will have the same amounts of funding, up to code buildings, an equal student per teacher ratio as county school districts, and no longer will V.I.C.C. be required, as our school districts are now equal."

I am a debater and this is one of the speeches tha I wrote. Thanks for reading!
Racism is currently a very negative situation that all Canadians are facing. Because of our vast expanse of multiculturalism, people of different races complain our judge its fellow inhabitants. Most cultures have a stereotype placed about them and when all of these different nationalities settle amongst htemselves, hostility is created. Which could possibly be a miss-understanding is often seen as a racist remark. Unlike Canada, most countries consist of one nationality. Japan’s population for example is 97% Japanese. Coutries such as Japan do not have the multicultural problem like Canada does.
The Multiculturalism act, proposed by Pierre Elliot Trudeau, was a way of quieting angry Canadian citizens. Many non-French, non-English speaking people were outraged to know that their national language was not accepted in Canada. There are higher ethnic groups in Western Canada than French speaking peoples and yet their language is not accpeted as one of Canada’s national languages.
“I can pass as a non-native person, but I go to powwows and other functions. I remember once in grade 6, we were on a field trip and some kids on the bus were yelling at people on the sidewalk. The teacher said that they were behaving like a bunch of Indians. Why are native persons seen as misbehaving?”
Clearly, the young child in this situation was negatively influenced from a racist remark. The teacher probably did not mean to hurt the young person, but she did. This is exactly the problem in our society. With diversity, any comment about a certain nation will probably hurt someone. The Edmonton Journal reports—“in a city with the second largest aboriginal population in the counrty, it is shocking an email deemed ‘racist, discriminatory, disgusting and offensive’ could circulate among police in a downtown division. I f a person is discriminated under race, sex, age, religion, physical/mental disability or sexual orientation, civil action ca be taken since the Civil right law is in place. According to a standard newspaper—Kignston cops pull over African Canadians at a higher rate that every other racial groups; Arab Canadians undergo more intensive security checks. Racism is an issue we are all facing in Canada; it has to stop!

What about the koreans that were help in POW camps here in the USA, during World War II? Every ancestor was given over $30,000 to make up for that. You're telling me that giving reparations to blacks would be wrong and we should get over it. Ha that's the dumbest shit I ever heard. Now I'm not saying that I even want the money, but come on it's the thought that counts. Don't dismiss this issue like it's nothing. That's our history. That's were we came from. Get over it!! You must be crazy. Unless you're black you can't understand a word of this. How am I supposed to sit back and pretend that slavery never happened? I refuse, because that's what my ancestors did. I'm not going to forget what they went through. Yeah it happened a long time, but so what. It's what makes alot of people who they are today. Should we forget about 9/11 in ten years? Maybe twenty? We are told to remember that everyday and I'll make sure to teach my kids about slavery. They will then teach their children, because that's something that should never be forgotten. Slaves made this counttry and without them the white people who brought them here would be (as my momma say) "running around like chickens with their heads cut off."

I belive that racism is only natural. I saw a phychology special on this once. It's easier for the brain to comprehend 6-7 specific groups with similar traits rather than 6-7 billion individuals at the same time. Its the brains way of categorizing things. Its similar to the game "which one of these things is not like the other?", specifically trainning us to target the exile (GASP, conspiricy theories begin on Sesame Street!!!). However, DISCRIMINATION is what is really wrong, injust, etc. Acting on those categorizations by labeling, acting, or harmfully voicing opinions is what causes the situations that arise in the news, papers, blogs, and so forth.
All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned, and men at last are forced to face with sober senses the real conditions of their lives and their relations with their fellow men.

All racism is bad and it's sad that it exists, but I think on some level it will always exist. I don't think there is a way to make it stop... humyns are afraid of any deviation from the norm. That's just how they are.

racism... will never end, i am from south Africa and it's a democratic country but still people treat each other differently according to their race. I feel it's Mad, because one never ask or choose to be born black or Indian and it's not fair for people to judge u and pass remarks base on ur skin colour. It is just plain wrong. mischie

ALL THE RACISM IS RIDICULOUS!
But we have to realize, racism is a part of prejudice which is a part of our everday lives and mentality. Racism can end. although many other forms of prejudice cannot end, racism is one form of prejudice that can end!
Racism can end because we should never have a reason to stereotype someone by the color of their skin or their features they've inherited by their ethnic background. Color is just what it is: color.
Prejudice, is a part of the human way of thinking. Simply because you HAVE to judge people when you see them. You know you WILL. It's not always a bad judgement we're passing about somebody, but it is a judgment nonetheless. Please don't BS and say you don't have even a degree of prejudice, you're lying to yourself.
What I'm trying to say is that everybody has a degree of racism which is a degree of prejudice. However, racism is a form of prejudice we can help future generations to defeat.
Racism is ridiculous and we shouldn't judge people by the color of their skin. There's never a reason to. There are plenty of other valid reasons to judge a person other than their color of skin... how bout we judge people by the content of their character???
what's so hard about that?
i don't really understand racism to be honest.
i've been prejudiced against because of the color of my skin, but i've never understood why. i've never understood how the color of my skin has personally effected somebody else's daily life.
Am I making sense?

First off your title for this Racism toward other races really redundant. I think racism is wrong. I don't think that anyone is less equal to anyoneelse because oftheir race.

I think that we need to give it up. God himself made us look different and we are all going to look different. Isn't that one of the beauties of the human race that we are all different? What if we were all the same? This racism thing is never going to end and it's a shame. I love "other" people because they are so much different than me. I love mixed couples and mixed children and we have to learn to love instead of looking at differences and not appreciating those differences.

Also, what do you mean by blacks still need to deal with slavery, and they didn't make a big deal out of it? After slavery was ended in this country, it was a VERY big deal. 4000000 freed blacks with little or no property were literally left wandering the streets trying to find a job or waiting to see what that moron Andrew Johnson would do. It was an extremely big issue for our whole nation to deal with - black or white. And why do they still need to deal with it? Slavery is over. Unless of course you refer to the reparations for slavery thing. That was complete stupidity. African Americans today do not deserve a penny, and whites today should not have to give them any. Their ancestors deserved repayment, and the slave-owning ancestors of whites should have paid them. That period of time is over, and nothing was paid. Sale la vi, let's move on.

It is only natural that whites, blacks, Mexicans, etc (it is not just whites) would be predjudice to Muslims. Human nature is not to show compassion. Also, most of the threat from acts of terrorism come from Muslims. It is necessary to look at Muslims if you are to prevent terrorist acts. Please, please, please, please find reality and stop living in a fictional world where everyone is equal and free and loves each other. Grow up and realize that most Muslims are not a threat, but in order to ensure the safety of a large group of innocent civilians (who i might add are black, white, Muslim, chinese, indian, mexican, etc.), police and the government need to keep an eye on MUSLIMS. Terrorists do not care who they kill. They are obsessed, ruthless maniacs bent on the idea of obtaining their spot in paradise by killing the innocent.

It's really easy to say that racism shouldn't be even existing in the world. But let's face it, we all have that kind of racism thingy going on in our heads. In my opinion, I think that racism is really stupid, but that's one way for some people to feel dominant over oders just because they feel inferior. I really do hope that someday we'll all grow out of our little shells and find that everything would be so much better when we see everyone as equal.

Geuss what! In the early years it was Muslims selling blacks slaves to the Spanish to work in their plantations in South America. I am against racism in any form, but today I see a lot of versi-racism going on. For instance the dumb white guy/smart black guy senario on most tv comercialls.
