First: no one says that white people are the only racist and that blacks are the only ones that gets discrimated agaisn't.

Secondly: the reason we bring up slavary so much is cause we will be damed that it will ever happen again. An example of how this relates to you is 9/11. Everyone in other countries could say "FORGET ABOUT IT. IT HAPPENED ALONG TIME AGO. BUT THE MAIN THEME OF 9/11 IS WE WILL NEVER FORGET. So your not going to forget about 9/11 so how is the sam he.ll do u expect us to forget about slavary.

When it really comes down to it every single race has experienced horrible things in the past. I guarantee you that every single person on this planet has had tons and tons of wronged ancestors, whether they're minorities or white. Also, every race has at one point in history used slavery. That's right, did you know when Europe was colonizing the New World, the Portugeuse decided to explore Africa, and what did they find? That many tribes were enslaving conquered tribes. I'm sick of people making out all white people to be horrible oppressors, because its just not true. Humans enslave eachother. Period. Let's get over what different races and countries did in the past. I'm part Scottish, do you see me getting mad at the English for what happened hundreds of years ago? I don't understand why race is even brought up now...don't we all believe in equality?

well im sorry but i have to agree, that there are quiet a few black people who are racist towards white or w/e. and theyre excuse is always because they're ancestors were slaves to our white ancestors, and about how we white people used to descriminae them and how what happens to them is because theyre black and etc... okay yeah i guess that was true, but not everyone did it nor agreed with it. and besides this is 2003. at one point some people might of felt superior to black people, as horrible as it was but it happend, and theres nothing we can do to change the past. and we should now try and get along, with everyone being equal, but the people who in a way are doing the same things we did to them (as in to descriminating and racism)are some black people themselves who just about everyday complain about people being racist and descriminating towards them. everyone just has to stop already. its sickning, lets just live as equals despite race, religion, or sex. this racial thing happening is something thats putting America at the ends of its name, along with all the other stuff we see so much of here

You all do realize the first slaves where black on black?? In Africa they enslaved their own people, and the slave trade got slaves from cheifs of the villages. And in earlier times, In the Roman Empire it was white on white slavery. The Romans made slaves of the Greeks. Anyways, I'm trying to be mean or prove a point, but it just something to think about. Also if anyone is being discriminated now it isn't by color of skin, usually. Now it's religion, or sex. So let's all get along . And yes, about black colleges, whites do go there, in fact we can get scholarships for being a minority .

Look I am not racist even though my father's ancestors owned slaves. This is not something I'm proud of and I even hate admitting it now. But for a African American to bring up slavery like a hundred years after it is over is absurd. That's like me saying that I can complain now because my ancestors were Irish and once looked down apon. No one would give them jobs and the ones who did didn't even give them a enough money to provide for their families, so you should feel sorry for me. WRONG! Those things did not happen to me or my parents so I have nothing really to complain about. Now if you were a slave or your parents were slaves I could understand you complaining about it.

Also in my opinion African Americans should not be called "African American" they should just be American. That is like me saying I do not want to be called white anymore I want to be known as a European American and anything else you call me is racist.Everyone one here is equall and we should have a uniting name.

i think the main problem here is that we all are taught to discriminate no matter who its against wwe`re taught by our parent sfriends and pretty much all of society i think there would much less discrimination/racism if everyone would take the time to think for thhemselves and create an opinion based there experiences with other people instead of what there taught from infacy

i`m not rascist but i don`t think anyone of our generation should bring up slavery because it`s impacted all of our lives but i think and please correct me if i`m wrong there is nobody here that has either "had" slaves or been a slave so i think we should stop pondering on slavery that has been illegal for years and unite to help ALL people who are currently facing slavery

Well youngqueen, you're right, there are caucasions who do attend these schools.. but how many? And also, when it comes to the public colleges, private colleges... if it were between a straight A, good white guy/girl and another needed minority number who made okay grades and was a good black guy/girl... who do you think would get in?... I thought we were all over this whole 'slavery' thing when they were set free. I'm all for freedom OF EACH RACE and CULTURE. So I dont know why you're so puffed up. Cool it. I'm over slavery. Never was on it. My ancestors were still in Europe.

I don't want to offend anyone but I believe African Americans need to lighten up. Yes, horrible mistakes have been made but there have been many attempts to make up for them. Now it seems to me like there is an equal amount of racism of whites to blacks as there is blacks to whites. We are all suppose to be equal now but it seems that minorities actually have more rights and more opportunities than non minorities.

For example, colleges are required to meet a minority quota. If we are all suppose to be equal why are we trying to require a certain amount of minorities accepted in colleges. If I were a black female I would want to be accepted into college because I worked hard and had good grades, not because they needed to meet some quota.

Why are there special scholarships and beauty pagenets for minorities? I think race shouldn't be an issue at all. No group should deserve any advantage over the other, it's as simple as that.

I think that was the most irrational statement, I have ever heard. It seems that you yourself isn't over slavery. As long as people continue to say thing like that the longer it'll take for everyone to forget.

I love African-Americans/African people. I have NO problem with them and I certainly would expect the same from them. Forgive but don't forget is my philosphy (number two).
