i also don't like it that ppl say i'm white i rather like to hear they say i'm european. or alpine, i really hate that they judge ppl by colour. i like the slovene word for africans,afro-europeans-americans whic is "zamorec" which means something like "the one behind the sea" as africa is on the other side of the Med.

First of all, yes I agree that racism still exists in certain extents... but anyone that is paranoid enough to think that more than maybe one percent of people are going to allow the color of someone's skin to totally warp their judgement... you need help. The year is 2004 last time I checked... and there are an abundance of people that are still flipping out about persecution which actually was abolished over one hundred years ago. But still, people have been oppressed with in the last 50 years, but even that was being worked out in the 1960's. I do not believe that these acts of prejudice should be forgotten.. that would be like forgetting the Holocaust.. that can never happen... if we ever were to forget, we would be likely to relive it. These are times which should never be allowed to be repeated. But here is the issue. I don't know of any Jewish people go crazy on people of German decent because ancestors killed ancestors... and that was a little bit more horrible than slavery. The purpose of the Holocaust was to kill.. slavery had the same effect.. but the intentions were not as evil. The only way we will ever be able to get past off all of this racism and prejudice is to realize that things were in the past. I never enslaved anyone... I never sent anyone to a Nazi concentration camp... but people still yell at me and hate me for being a white male of German decent. I'm sorry I guess. But the fact does not change that people are so caught up in the past that it is impossible to ever really move on in life. If we are to ever become a society of equality.. you can't have restrictions which act as racism in the opposite direction. Does that make sense to anyone at all? I hope so because I am frankly tired of all of this hatred because of what happened in the past that we were not involved in... I am not the people who lived then.. nor do I want to be. Don't treat me as though I am. And with that, to all of you self righteous racist people... what the hell are you thinking? Do you not realize that people are not what you can see, but what you cannot? We need to change at some point.. and now is looking like a pretty good time.. don't you think?

"us black people get offended because of all we've been through." Do you mean you or your ancestors, cuz if you mean in our life time we've all been through sh!t. so it's not OK for a white person to be offended by the fact that black people can get away with(especially in schools) saying very ignorant things about white people that, if i said them about a black person, i'd get suspended? i'm sick of people saying we want equality if they(not just black people, but on this post yes)can't treat others the way they're begging to be treated by those others.

whites didnt start racism. america wasnt the first country to have slaves nor the first to discriminate by race/orgin. the world does not revolve around america, so get your facts straight. also, don't live in a past that none of us were alive to see happen. it's just ignorant.

Don't call me white! Don't call me white...
The connotations wearing my nerves thin Could it be semantics generating the mess we're in? I understand that language breeds stereotype But what's the explanation for the malice, for the spite?
Don't call me white! Don't call me white...
I wasn't brought here, I was born Circumcised, categorized, allegiance sworn Does this mean I have to take such **** For being fair skinned? No! I ain't a part of no conspiracy, I'm just your average Joe
Don't call me white! Don't call me white...
Represents everything I hate The soap shoved in your mouth to cleanse the mind A vast majority of sheep A buttoned collar, starched and bleached Constricting veins, the blood flow to the brain slows They're so F***in' ordinary, white Don't call me white
We're better off this way Say what you're gonna say So go ahead and label me An a**hole 'cause I can Accept responsibility for what I've done But not for who I am Don't call me white
Don't call me white!

quote: I'm just gonna be straight. Whites started racism- so the minorities are gonna end it. Who started slavery?? You bet it wasn't us, it's your ansestors fault so go complain to them.
Get your facts straight! Not ALL of caucasians' ansestors owned slaves. Your statement made me so mad! Ugh, I just can't explain it... quote: I want to be seen as me, not a color.
That's awesome! I love that! Right on, Candybuster!

On the subject of reverse descrimination: I work with a lot of black people and have a lot of fun with them. As I've gotten to know them I don't even see their color any more. Wish we could all see past this.

I agree with you completly puppydawgk, its true all races face racism, but they never count white/caucasions people to ever have been faced with racism. and its true almost all races seem to stereo type white/caucasions people to be rich, preppy, people who will do anything to get what they want. white(or w/e u want 2 call them) just like any other race has faced racism, and other races have to understand that. and just stop stereotyping us, because its just horrible to stereo type anyone.

WELL, actually really pale people and albinos CAN be white as a sheet of clean, fresh paper. AND i have seen black people blacker than the Mississippi night sky. they are almost purple! IM SERIOUS...but anyway, yes, i AM a black person. i don't have a problem with being called black. it's like an abbreviation. it's basically the same with white...an abbreviation. i don't get how it could offend yall. but the thing i hate MOST is when white people try to act black. and about the thing with if a black person says something funny about a white person, for example, on comicview, they do that alot.it's different on the streets though because you would have to really be joking if you're white. us black people get offensive because of all we've been through. HOLLA YALL ~B~

Its just like the Supreme Court's decision about giving minorities more points in college admissions. Not to be rude or anything but, if they were giving whites more points or rich people or famous people more points people would protest and absolutely raise hell over it but, the truth is people disagree with it can't stand up for themselves and say anything because you would get called just another racist white person and thats simply not true we want what everyone else wants EQUAL rights.

i dont kno how many times i've been told "you're pretty cute..4 a white person." or "you're pretty good...4 a white person." or even "You're actually ok....4 a white person." if i told someone, "you're pretty good...4 a black person." i'd get expelled 4 racism. talk about reverse discrimination. i realize not everyone does this...but it's pretty unfair, those who do.

I see what you're saying now. It's messed up if the black people you know think that. But all black people don't think like that. It's more of a thing of paranoia then hate. They don't hate you, they are just being careful. But it's still not an excuse and it's still not right. If racial problems are gonna get better, black people need to stop stereotyping white people. As far as why they are like that, some of them may just be straight up racist. But from what I know, a lot of black people act like that cause they are scared of white people. Seriously. They have to deal with so much crap from white people that they automatically assume you're "just like the rest". The best thing you can do is be yourself and treat them equally, which I'm sure you do.
