hey, c'mon... now who's being racist?!?!? this hasn't and probably won't happen very often, but i completely agree with outspokenme. you just said that every cauccasion person on earth is a racist because their ancestors started slavery. ok, first of all, that's the most ignorant and idiotic statement you can make... i'm not bashin on you though. i'm just saying you shouldn't say things like that. i'm italian... i'm pretty sure that my ancestors didn't own slaves. it's very agrivating to those of us who aren't racist when people assume that just because we're white, we are racist. now, first off, i'd like to tell you... racism is wrong nomatter what, ok?! and when you stereotype me, that's racism. smarten up. and even if our ancestors were pro-slavery, that doesn't categorize me as a racist, ok?! so, like rockgirl said... don't talk about something you know nothing about. you all set with that? good. now learn some respect.
god bless

Amen, outspokenme.

I'm a third generation American, my family wasn't even around at the time of slavery.

Besides, if you know ANYTHING about history, you know that only a fraction of Americans owned slaves. In fact, many people were completely against the institution.

The caucasion you're accusing of ancestral slave-owning could actually be descended from fiery abolitionists who were the reason slavery was fought and abolished.

Don't be ignorant and don't make a fool of yourself. Don't make accusations about things you know nothing about.

Ya know, just because a person is Caucasian and American doesn't mean their ancestors owned slaves. I mean, that's stereotypical, very stereotypical. Seriously, my ancestors didn't immigrate to American until the late 1800s, early 1900s, therefore, they wouldn't have owned slaves. So quit blaming every Caucasian (or their ancestors) because a lot had absolutely nothing to do with it.

I'm just gonna be straight. Whites started racism- so the minorities are gonna end it. Who started slavery?? You bet it wasn't us, it's your ansestors fault so go complain to them.

Hey ya'll
yeah i want to apologize for how harsh my post soudned b4...... it sounded good in my head lol but I didn't bother to read it after i wrote it so if any of you guys were offended I want to apologize.
The fact of the matter is i didn't mean to sound racist or prejudice toward other races. What I was trying to say is that all races get knocked on becuz of what they look like and I find that really upsetting. I go to a predominately latino school and that is completely cool don't get me wrong please... I jsut wanted to point out that ALL races get targeted for something stupid. Like snoop said b4, if we were all the same color they would still find something wrong. People are going to find something to make fun of you for. Your religion, your hair color, what you wear, how you talk, your beliefs... anything! It used to really upset me when people said racist comments towards me becuz I am caucasion but now i jsut laugh it off becuz I figure its not worth getting upset over.
Again, sorry if I upset anyone Smile my sincerest apologies.
God Bless,
Katie

Hey Katie!
Racism is any person discriminating against any other race/religion ect. So therefore every colour and religion recieves racism at some point. Im white and I live in Australia, and I can say I only have one black friend, who is my best friend. Alot of people make jokes about him being black but he sees the funny side to it and he'll crack one back about whites. I can't talk from experience although I believe some blacks may stereotype whites due to the aggression they have been through in the past. Racism happens to all as humans can be cruel. One quote that I've always remembered was from George Aiken, "If we were to wake up some morning and find that everyone was the same race, creed, and color, we would find some other causes from prejudice before noon." Sadly that is probably true.

I am latin, and i am white. I have no problem if someone calls me white, cuz I am, (though i say im yellow, cuz i dont know im more golden than white but whatever). I dont know why african americans get so mad when people call them black. they are black. obviously not BLACK as in the color. but its just a way of saying how their skin is. just as you can say im white.

we shouldnt forget we have different colors. i love that we have different colors. its beautiful the variety of tones we humans have. i know theres racism against every race. ive experienced racism. but ive never been racist.

and i have heard a colorblind song and i love it, from counting crows, it goes
"I am colorblind,
Coffee black and egg white.
Pull me out from inside.
I am ready..."

is it the same one?

bye!

hi katie,
my name is micah and i live in northern maine... i know what you're thinking... i couldn't possibly come from another place with a higher concentration of just white people... i think in my town there are eight african americans that own homes and/or live there. but i do have a strong sense of hatred toward and from them. it bugs me that people assume most whites are racist... but the only way to get through that is for us to forget we have different colors. at the end of your message you wrote "god bless" so i'm assuming that you are also a christian. have you ever heard the song "colorblind"?
i'm not sure who sings it... i think carmen. being colorblind is truly the only way to rid ourselves of racial hatred... but what is "race"? i think the problem starts when people look at someone with a different skin tone and they think that they come from different races... the way i see it... god created us all and we are all human... therefore, we are of the same race. i do agree with your point about dubbing people with specific colors like "black" and "white" because we aren't that literal color. just make sure you watch some of the things you say... i know that you aren't racist, just offended by the stereotypes that have now been directed at cauccasions... but i know a few people that would be upset by your comment about being jumped... just a heads up for you... write me back if you can think of something else to talk about.
