Hi everyone! I am 18 and 6 months pregnant. When i was 2 months pregnant, my job told me i had to leave asap and i demanded i stay until i was at least 8 months. I never said i couldnt or wouldnt do my job. Well i ended up staying at my job until i was 4 mths pregnant and then i finally gave in because they cut my hours and kept urging me to leave. Well they layed me off as of Feb. 8, 2003 and i so i put in for unemplyment. My employer rejected my request for unemployment benefits and the next day after recieving my denied letter i got a letter stating i was terminated from my job. I dont know what to do...i love my job and would like to return...but what they did to me is wrong and i deserve justice...what should i do...any advice is greatly appriciated...

Confused Confused Confused

That's a pretty name. If I ever have kids and a son, I was going to name him Christian. But that's not too unusual. I don't know any unique names but there are a lot of baby naming websites that might give you some ideas.

That's great. Good luck with everything. Be sure to update us when you have the baby. Do you have any names picked out yet?

I take a gander she had the baby already but I can give her this tip and it is that basically she can get unemployment benefits but only if she can prove that the company let her go because she was pregnant. I used to be a supervisor and I know how cut throat work places can be and from a legal stand point she cant really do any thing because it looks like they covered all the bases! Confused

Just a couple of questions: What type of job was this that you was working at? How long had you been working there? Why did you inform them that you was pregnant so early when I assume you wasn't yet showing? I don't know what to tell you to help but I think those questions might be relevant. If the job was one with a lot of heavy lifting or activity, I can understand how a pregnancy could affect your work. If you didn't work there very long which, by your age, I am assuming you didn't, you might not be qualified for maternity leave and they could have more easily found a reason to fire you. Regardless, it wasn't right. You need the money more now than ever because a baby is very expensive. Maybe you should talk to a lawyer.
