i dont think there is anything wrong with being a wicca, i tried it once, and though i am not completly part of the religion, i am open 2 practice it. i dont understand why anyone should have any problems with the religion Wicca, it dosent hurt any one (like many crazy religions out there) and it dosent tell exactly what to believe (unlike most major religions). I think wicca is a great religion to which people should be more open to learn about befor judging it. Smile

I was wondering if you could explain what kind of witchcraft you do. Like give me an example im really curious, i wanna know if that works.

As a wiccan, I feel a warmth that someone, instead of just passing my beliefs off as folly, or 'wrong', would like to know more before making a judgement.

An example of what I do as a wiccan would perhaps be a calming 'spell'. This simply involves going to a quiet place close to my heart (in my case, this is a small river near my home) and sitting quietly. I close my eyes, and see a pale blue light all around me. I do this until I can see nothing but the light. When I leave, I am incredibly calm and at peace.

A lot of wiccans do the same before another 'spell', simply because along the same lines as meditation, it clears mind and heart.

On a related note, I would be very interested in being contacted by other wiccans from this site. It is always wonderful to get in contact with those who share my beliefs.

Dante: Well.. let me put it this way...

There are two ways to take the name 'The All' as. (I'll refer to it as Gaia from now on)

1. As a divine being of spiritual origin which is also split into the god and goddess and other smaller deities

2. Everything. Meaning Nature, The Earth, The Moon, the Sun, the Galaxy, the Universe, Time, Space, Light, Plants, Animals, Thought, Faith, Knowledge, Emotions, Science, past, present, future Etc, Etc, Etc.

I take Gaia as the second choice. You ask 'why believe in gaia'. Well, it's not like believing in a deity. Gaia is not something you have to have 'faith' in to know it exists, it is all around us, in us, IS us. It is all matter, it is everything you can and can't see, it is dreams.

So, like, when i replied to the post about 'would you sacrifice your life for your religion' meaning, if someone pointed a gun to my head and asked me 'do you believe in Gaia' I would say 'Yes' because it is the obvious answer, the only answer. it would be like asking whether the sky was blue, or whether snow is cold, or on a more appropriate scale, whether the Universe exists.

Do you see what I mean? I paste the thought of 'Gaia' as a great goddess, a mother to us all, because life is so great. Gaia is less of a deity and more of a... answer. because Gaia=Everything.

Does that make sense? I don't 'believe in her' in a religious manner, but KNOW of her. and everyone else does too. it would be like me asking you, "Do you believe the earth exists?"

Understand? smile

Well i do white magick, which is pretty much magick that harms none, so not curses. You might do a spell to give a friend guidance or to help a someone who is sick.

Does that answer your question?

Dante: Good question... (now to remind you that this is MY specific Type of Wicca I'm answering in reference to, others can be extrememly different)

For me, i don't HAVE to 'believe' as it were, in gods and goddesses. I myself believe in the All, (which you may have read about on one of my other posts)which is basically everything. Gaia as I call it. I just paste the names of Different gods or goddesses to it so that it's easier to name/talk to/pray to, etc. Does that make any sense? When i use the small names of specific god/esses like Bast, Athena, Posiden, etc, I'm just speaking of a specific PART of the All... does that make sense?

Shorty: Um.. I dunno, I'm not going to give you any spells or anything.. what do you mean "specific Examples"?

i am christian and practcing spells and magick is against my religion. i am not against wiccans in any way, i think that they belive what they believe and i believe what i believe. i go to a small private school with about 100 people, and everyone is practicaly the same! there are only three Jewish people, and the rest are either Christian or they don't believe in a religion. alot of the people dicriminate against Wiccans, probably because they never have met any. it makes me really mad because im sure Wiccans are just regular people, i havn't met any. sry, i just wanted to get my two bits in.

Could you give specific questions that you'd like to hear a Wiccan opinion on? I'd be happy to answer any you have. (Keep in mind that my answers may be completely different than another Wiccan, but there you are...)

Blessed be

I'm not fond of this Christan/Wicca dichotomy, where one rebells from one to the other or disagrees with one in favor of the other.

The population of practicing Wiccans drops considerably after age 18 and then once again after 22, and it's really a shame people would take faith that lightly.

What I don't understand at this point is why Wicca and how does it answer teh same essential questions for Wiccans? And also how it answers the same criticisms that christianity faces?

It's not that I don't understnad the religon. I know it well, but I've hear the christian answers (as faulty as they may be) but never heard how wiccans explained them.

I don't understand... You say we 'believe' ourselves to be good, and you base your beliefs of us being evil on the bible... Well, WHY is wicca evil? And don't say 'because the bible says so' because that is not reason enough for me. Has anything I've said sounded evil to you?>>

I'm dying to hear his response to this one. Everything you've said about the wiccan religion sounds perfectly fine to me and it sounds like a completely valid religion. I commend and respect the time you've taken to tell us about your religion. I'm sure many others are glad to be enlightened on it as well.

As said before, there will be twists and spins on all religions, whether those twists and spins are good or bad. I've already heard plenty on this board in the short time I've been a member. From my experience, true wiccans that are decent human beings live by the rules of doing no harm...a hint everyone of every religion should take. Bob, imagine if the Bible didn't mention witchcraft as bad -- would you still believe it was bad? Step outside of your comfort zone. cool

Then why did you post a site that said Wicca is supposedly evil? If that's not claiming knowledge on a topic I don't know what is. Especially when you're trying to tell someone who IS that religion what they believe and don't. Not to meantion that you DO claim to understand/and be knowledgable about Wicca as you UNDERSTAND it to be 'evil' and in your KNOWLEDGE we're harming others.

You aren't making sense

To attack that of which you know nothing--the highest folly.
