Christine, what a load of crap. You basically contradicted yourself here:

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can control your thoughts, at least to a certain extent, so you can control the way you look at people
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But it is true. It isn't a contradiction. I went through a phase. I found that it is in the mind. This is why I am not for gay marriage. Being gay is like being fat: Some say it is hereditary, but you can still change it.

As to my school, no one really says they are gay here. Some guys pretend to be when they joke around (maybe pretend) but no one really says much about it.

drama, they weren't saying you said it.

quote:
A lot of people like the opposite sex before they become gay.

They don't love them. you haven't been inside theirhead or experianced it. Alot of people covince themself that they're supposed to like the opposite sex, but don't actually.

And drama, as I have been telling others like you, Don't keep posting multiple times in a row. make it all in one post please. Do you realize you posted 5 times in 20 minutes on the same board with no one else saying anything?I somtimes thing newbies are doing it to get more psots (but that's a whole diiferent issue).

quote:
If people were born gay, then it would have to be genetic. I know and have heard of a lot of people who are gay, and no one in their family is. Ans vise versa.

They're still researching it. According to the APA it is partly genetic.Just because everyone in my family has blue eyes doesn't mean I do.

My school is okay with the whole gay thing. I think that if someone wants to be gay then more power to them. I have friends that are gay...and they are the coolest people I have ever met. I mean there are some of those people that make fun of them...but that is normal. Most people at my school are okay with it.

Tell me you don't drag that blade across your skin and pray for the courage to press down.

Our school is so small and everyone knows everyone, no one is gay because everyone is Christian and you can't be gay and a true Christian, no matter if you may think that.

My school is so against gays, gay marriage, gay rights, basically any and everything dealing with gay issues. Including myself, there is only maybe a handful of people in my school that actually are okay and support gay issues. One of my friends is gay and he is the nicest person I know. I forget sometimes that he is even gay because he hangs out with different groups of people.

I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize. My friends, I don't feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for wha

So because you're school is Christian there is no homophobia? Do you think that may be more due to the religion factor and people being afraid to be themselves?

And I know that I didn't choose to only like girls, okay? It was a gradual realization, and there are a lot of days where I wish I wasn't, because of people calling me "****" or "lesbo" or whatever. Plus it's harder to date, so that's unfortunate..

Anyway, that's a different topic, so save it for the ones that are relevant.

Just remember I'm human, too.

As for the "Its just really weird" thing, that is a hilarious argument. Know what else is weird? Christmas trees. I mean, who kills a tree and then drags it into their house, decorates it with plastic and glass, then after a few days or weeks, takes all of the little glass and plastic things off and drags the tree outside again to burn it or throw it away.

That's cute, and so true. Now come, I would like to discuss this choice of being gay thing, being born with it. When you are getting into your early to mid teens (about adolescence and puberty) you begin to become attracted to the opposite sex (that is if you are heterosexual). Now what makes you attracted to them? Honestly think about it. It there some defining characteristic that makes you automatically attracted to the opposite sex or do you sit down one day and say I think I want to like the opposite sex. No and it is the same with homosexuality. I didn't, and I am sure Courtney didn't, sit down one day and say to ourselves, "I want to be gay. I want to live one of the most harassed and difficult lifestyles imaginable just for the sake of it. I want to be picked on, abused, and generally treated as a sub-human". I really really doubt that. And I can say with peace of mind that that goes for most homosexuals. And as for the reverse therapy thing. That's called lying to yourself. You can choose. It is true the homosexual lifestyle is a choice lifestyle. You can choose to lie to yourself and hide who you are and even choose to pretend to love a woman but deep down you will always be homosexual. And will you really be happy that way? No. And as for her never having been to a GSA meeting, my inclination is that the only meeting she has ever been to is alcoholics anonymous. Of course that was a dig, I do not actually think you are a drunk. But honestly Ikki4reed is right. Have you ever been to a GSA meeting. Do you even know what they are about?

quote:
And I know that at least Catholicism (I altered the spelling because I can't stand bad grammar, pet peeve - GQ) is, or was the last time my book was updated, the top religion in the world.

If you break Christianity apart into its components I believe that one of the eastern religions is on top (Buddhism or Hinduism or Islam or something) and that is not a quotable source that is a vague memory from world religions class. However Christianity in and of itself IS the top religion of the world. The fastest growing religion is, I believe, Hinduism or Islam. Once again don't quote me on those I am not for sure but I will look it up. As for anything else you're proably wrong and someone has probably already proved you wrong.

Ciao

Speak for yourself, sunshine. I do not CHOOSE to be straight. I just am. You are full of horse****, only believing what is convenient and comfortable for you.

They AREN'T born that way either. All scientists have different views on how people become gay/lesbian.

If "all scientists have different views", how do you claim to know yourself what the correct answer is?

My school is a Christian school so there really isn't any homophobia here at all.

I would be very surprised if that was the case.

GSA suckcs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How in the world does an organization that helps gay teens fight abuse and harassment at school suck? A GSA is what every school needs.

My suggestion to you, anti-gay people, coming from a heterosexual female, is this: Educate yourself on the subject of homosexuality, Talk to a gay person and see their side of things instead of your own, Consider the fact that homosexuals are human beings with feeling like you. And if you still don't like them keep your mouth shut.

Prove it. The APA says it's not a choice. And I've already quoted that.

Maybe you should do a little research, hon. Homosexuality isn't a choice, and it is NOT easy to get rid of. You know how bad it feels when you're rejected? I bet there are a lot more straight guys around you for you to pick from than there are gay girls around me. Sometimes I wish I wasn't a lesbian, but you know what? I still am. I can't get rid of it.

They are messed up and they don't understand that if you cannot control your feelings, you shouldn't be married at all. There is a greater chance of you cheating if you can't.

Where do you get the idea that being straight means that you are controling your emotions? That doesn't make sense.

And there are plenty of cheating straight people, so don't blame cheating on the gay community. And some sources pleae. Who is to say if you allowed gay marriage there would be more people cheating?

Can I have a (reputable) source that 'Catholicism' is the top religion in the world?

[QUOTE]

*dies laughing* I think the most updated religion in the world would have to be the pagan cults. When things are new, its easier to weave new science into them. Did you know many carnivorous dinosaurs had feathers?
