Congradulations DWM.

Vindicated, I think homophobic comes down to what you define it as. I would think those kids in your class sound homophobic because of the "That's so gay" etc. It also depends on the context though, of which I have no clue.

im from a small town in montana, i mean i have like 130 people in my class. no one is really homophobic in my school. alot of adults are against gay marraiges. but i dont think that very many people care. i mean some people still say "you are so gay!" and stuff. but what ever.

be proud of who you are, dont care what other people think about you, because in the end you are the only one that matters in your life

And now that you all know where I live, please instruct whomever has my rope that I need it back. Thanks.

I'd show you the letter I responded to, but I don't have a copy of the paper, nor does the website keep records of letters past seven days.

Well. My letter to the editor was posted. Probably no big deal to some of you big town people, but for a small town boy like me, it has never happened. Read it. It's the second one, I believe, the one with the title "Gays, Christians need healing"

And YOU say it like it's a GOOD thing. You make me sick, almost as much as JoeyDauben does. Would you call racism a good thing? How about sexism? If so, then fine, be a homophobe, but don't come anywhere near DC. We don't want you. If not, then why is homophobia any different? It's still discriminating against someone based on something they didn't choose and can't really change.

I have to say, the leading cause of homophobia, racism, sexism, anything like that is IGNORANCE. Like depressedwavemaster said, go out into the world. Free your mind. You could learn something.

I'm a realist. And to me, someone that discriminates against others based on things like sexual orientation, race, or gender, is (by definition) a bigot. Personally, I wouldn't like being a bigot, but maybe you would. It's your choice.

You missed my point. What I said wasn't to be taken "literally" per se. Here's what the subliminal was, because obviously you never saw it: You've never gotten out of your own little god-damned circle. Get out into the world. Meet people. Come to Eugene, Oregon. Meet me dammit. I like gay people. I like straight people. I like bi people. I even like trans people. Wow. Now, you can never say you've never met someone who likes gay people. Bigot.

Then apparently you've only met bigots...

I don't have a problem with people that oppose gay marriage (I favor it very strongly though). I DO have a problem for people that judge others or don't like them based on their sexual orientation. To me, that's equally bad as being racist.

My school really isn't that bad. We have alot of gays and bis. The teachers and administrators are really the only ones who have a problem with it. Most of the kids are fine with it. Some of the gays are even popular. It just isn't even a real issue at my school.

One of my best friends is bisexual, and she faces such a hard time at choll because of it that she almost had a panic attack. I'm sorry that the world is like that. She shouldnt have to hide what she is just because a few ignorant bible beaters out there need a new scapegoat.

i think that people who are gay or lesbian should have that right to. it really makes me p.o.'ed that kids pick on them for being like that. some people just cant help it, and i think that its really sad- some of the things that these people have to go through just cuz they like people of their own gender. i think that if u are gay or lesbian, then who should care but you? its ur own preference and its not someone else's business. if gay people want to hold hands in public and show their affection for eachother, why shouldn't they? if strait people think its gross to see that, then maybe they should think about what its like for gays and lesbians to watch strait people show PDA. i just think its really terrible that gays and lesbians are being made fun of for something that seems perfectly normal to them.
