captain, I have just one question - are you God? I seriously doubt you are. You have no right to tell people what level of "good" Christianity they are. And although I dont agree with gay marriage, that doesnt mean that I dont accept and respect gays in general. How would you feel if I told you you were not as "good" of a Christian as you think you are because you cuss, use the Lord's name in vain (and you know you have at least once), and look at guys in a dirty way when you pass them in the hallway at schoool? Youre being a hypocrite yourself by saying that you dont stereotype much. You just "stereotyped" soccergirl by saying that she wasnt as "good" of a Christian as she thinks she is... How about you leave the judging up to the Lord? You dont know soccergirl from adam - you dont know what she thinks, feels, and acts like God does. Even the Lord said himself that he was the only one that would judge Christians in their beliefs. I dont see you giving everyone a "Judgment Day" the day they die. When you get down to it, youre not being a "good" Christian by judging others on their religious actions.

TO THE PERSON WITH THE CHRISTAIN STEROTYPE: YOU DON'T KNOW EVERY SINGLE CHRISTAIN ON THE PLANET SO THEREFORE YOU CANNOT SAY WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT CHRISTAINS IN GENERAL!!! IN OUR RELIGION WE CAN'T BE GAY....HAVE YOU READ THE BIBLE??? FROM THE LOOKS OF IT YOU HAVEN'T BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SAY ANYWHERE ABOUT HATING GAYS!!! I DON'T KNOW ONE CHRISTAIN PERSON WITH HATED TWORDS GAY PEOPLE. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HAVING HATED TWORD SAME SEX RELETIONSHIPS AND HAVING HATED TWORD PEOPLE IN THE SAME SEX RELETIONSHIP. SO ANYWAYS MOST CHRISTAINS (AND I'M SAYING MOST BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW EVERY SINGLE CHRISTAIN ON THE PLANET) DON'T SUPPORT SAME SEX RELETIONSHIPS....BUT TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE IN THE RELETIONSHIP....THAT'S THEIR BUSSINESS. NEXT TIME YOU WANT TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT CHRISTAINS AND GAY PEOPLE - - GO TO THE LIBRARY....PICK UP A BIBLE (OR CONVENTENTLY GO TO BIBLE.COM) AND LOOK AT LEVITICUS 18:22 BECAUSE THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE WHEN IT COMES TO CHRISTAINS BEING GAY. HAVE A GOOD DAY!

So captain you are calling every christian that supports gays a hypocritte? Christians can have their own opinions as well as non-christians without being hypocrittes. Being a hypocritte is determined by your actions. For example: If I were to tell people that it's bad to surse and that they should not be cursing and then I go around and curse that would be considered hypocrittical. But to simply have an opinion about something that God may not agree with is not hypocrittical.

I agree to a point that can't be put into words. I generally don't stereotype too much...but when it comes to people that concern themselves with nothing and insist on wearing fashions that originated in prisons, I can't help but call them retarded (unfortunatley sometimes to their face...that doesn't usually turn out too all)

Well, you might not be as great of a christian as you think you are for three reasons: 1) Lutheran is a denomination of christianity...so to call yourself a christian is ignorant, because those are two separate belief systems. -however, since you seem to enjoy refering to yourself as a christian, I will continue speaking to you that way- 2)being a christian, you must have read the bible...because in leviticus, God condemns homosexuality and proclaims it a sin. 3)to have a belief system separate from that that God has places you apart from God (many christians believe this to be true) --people have to understand christianity and what it really means to be one before they claim to be--

I don['t appreciate you stereotyping Christians. I'm a Christian and I totally support Gay rights! You seem to think all Christians believe exactly the same way. That's not true at all. Sure, al of them believe there is a God but then they each have there own beliefs on different political issues.

Hey, on the poll, can you put all of the above, I sadly, have a tendicie to do that, sterotype all of them, but then after the first 5 seconds, it leaves.

I'm from WV. 1/3 of the people here have good manners, are more intelligent than the normal crowd, and sometimes will use sir or ma'am. The next third are less respectful and of normale intelligent. The last third (these people, i am truely ashammed of) are plain stupid, redneck, hicks who have ne er even heard of manners. i am afraid of them and I live in hillbilly country. I went to a national camp last summer and soooo many people said things about WV. I couldn't stand it. I try not to sterotype people anymore because of the things people have said to me about being from WV.

I stereotype a lot of African American people who are on the streets with du-rags on and clothing too big for their body and who are huddled in a group. I always think that they are going to mug me. For some reason that is just what comes to mind and I'm trying to change that.

lol. I'm from the South, but we only "sir" or ma'am" for buttering-up or for people we don't know. Actually, alot of middle-aged women get so distraught when refered(sp?) to as "ma'am". They think it makes them seem old. lol.

Sometimes I say "sir" or "ma'am" to elderly people in the store or on the street. i.e. "Excuse me, sir." They really like that. However, my parents would probably think I was mouthing off to them.

one of my [yankee] friends told me that it was disrespectful to call her mom "ma'am" but I didnt believe her... I call everyone I know {thats older than me of course) ma'am or sir. Like you'll get yelled at if you dont say "sir" or "ma'am" to a teacher - its more disrespectful not to say it than to. Its not like we only say "ma'am" instead of their actual name - like I dont call my Aunt Donna "ma'am" instead of "Aunt Donna.." but like when we answer someones question - its "yes ma'am" or "no sir". I hope I explained that right...

Indeed, here too. We use 'sir' and 'ma'am' but usually for people we don't know. Because here it is more personal to use their actual name rather than say 'sir' or 'ma'am'...
