Yes, fascism exists in America. Try learning about the band Anti-Flag and you'll find out how. (No, they are not anti-American).

Fascism is not right-wing! Mussolini was originally a socialist, but moved to the center somewhat and established a ideology that was ultra-nationalistic, anti-liberal (in the enlightened sense, not the left wing meaning it has in america), ultra-militaristic (I can under stand this, though the way fascists go about it is EVIL), corporatism (companies and corporations both work to plan the economy, while maintaining capitalism. Good idea if done right, not in the sick way Hitler and Ill Duce did), and of course the ever popular brutal repression of all opposition. It is one of the greatest lies of the 20th century that Hitler was a right winger, when in fact he advocated partial socialism and racist internationalism for whites at the expense of all that didn't conform! Don't believe me? Read Mein Kampf and you will detect definite socialistic undertones and talk of the german (white) worker's rights over all other people. The Nazi and Fascist parties were both in fact founded as sham populist parties that really didn't care about their supporters. In fact, many on the left fell for Mussolini and Hitler when they came to power, and still many more such as the founder of planned parenthood where endorsed by fascist forces.
Now, picture this scenario: Your country has a corrupt, new demmocracy that consistently fails to do anything right and is very poor. Suddenly, this charismatic modern man comes on the scene and promises you a better government, a job, a future, and a place in a new world order. This is of course the scenario many Italians, Germans, and countless other people found themselves in. Is it any wonder that a person like Hitler or Mussolini could manipulate the poor into supporting their evil dictatorship? Fascism was a niche movement that continues to breed itself in developing countries, as does Communist Socialism. In many Latin American countries, the military or extremist populists have taken power and set up fascist regimes.
This is of course Latin Militarism and the Junta form of government. The thing is, in many of these countries a kind of tyranny of the majority takes place in which most people live happy lives, but a minority is severly repressed or killed. In Chile for instance, a Junta lead by General Pinochet took power and after expelling a socialist president gained widespread support. However, Pinochet caused the deaths of thousands who mysteriously disappeared, despite his seeming benevolence to the average citizen. As a result, more than a decade after Pinochet was overthrown half of Chile considers him a patriot, while the other half of the country is demanding he be executed for crimes against humanity. Militarism is almost always a reaction against socialism and conservatism, while having the support of the poor in many cases because quite simply the people are forced to chose whether they value the constitution of their corrupt government or their jobs. This is not a choice anyone should be forced to make, but so long as people have to Fascism and its twin sister Militarism will continue to exist.

I think it would be safe to say that fascism is the "right" as communism is the "left."
Basically, right of ultra-conservative is considered fascist, whereas left of liberal is Communist.
That's my understanding, at least.

I never really understood the core values of fascism. we just glossed over it at school. All i know is that Mussolini is a fascist. is it vaguely related to communism?

How, might I ask, does Fascism exist in our country today? I prefer to think of the state of government we have in place as a failure. Who knows, Fascism could work if it's in hands of the right kind of ruler. Sometimes, what is carried out must not always be allowed to be under the people's jurisdiction. They don't always know what is best for them.
