Ok in some high schools to graduate you need a 5yr plan, ok thats kind of wierd. How are we going to know what were going to do in 5yrs when we dont even know what we are going to have for dinner most of the time. Itz life shoving a test in front of our faces that we know were going to fail because we didnt study the material. But there are some ppl that got thier stuff together and know what thier going to do and where their going to be in 5yrs but you do have to think about the other senior student bodie. Now im only in the 8th grade and i know i dont graduate till like 2007 but i still have friends that go to high school that are going to be seniors next year and they cant make up their minds between going to collage or going into the work force right after school. They need time, we all need time to decide whats going to happen.I mean yea itz just a guesetimate but sstill you cant put that much preasure and stress on us just because your higher in the level of education and older.
I dont think i'll ever settle. IT'S NOT FAIR!MY DAD GETS TO GO ALL OVER THEPLACE NOW AND I HAVE TO STAY HOME WHILE HE GOES TO PAKISTAN!!!!!!!!!!!!lol my time will come.Hopefully soon
My sis doesn't want a career life at all.She juast wants to get married and have a family. She's gonna skip grade 11 so who knows what will happen. She'll find her way soon though.I think you're right about the 5yr plan thing being wrong; i think you should be able to choose in your time.I got lucky because i know what i want:College(Westpoint, Baylor, Yale, or Stanford [last two-hahah dream on lol]), Air Force, Journalism, and maybe, if i find someone, A family.I love kids but i don't think i could settle down.lol But i know several people who can only see to passing high school. They can't work their best without something to aim at.So in a way, getting people to find what they want in 9th grade is good, but it makes people pick the wrong choice sometimes.I just wish school life could be as long as one needed. But you can always change majors in college.that's good
you don't have to stick to the plan. they can't take away your diploma if you don't go to x-college or get y-job. it's just so you can have some kind of a guideline. i don't see it as that big of a deal.
the most important thing to do in high school is to not screw yourself later down the line. try not to fail and try not to get arrested. anything else is bonus - but it's not really necessary. yeah, you can try to guess where you're going to be in 5, 10 years, yes, you can try to find out who "you" really are... but it's not like high school is the best or easiest place to learn about yourself - those years will come later when you're allowed to take a step back from your family and the depressing cliques that define high school society.
have fun. apply yourself in what interests you. avoid people that carry weapons. don't get caught using drugs (regardless if you end up trying drugs or not, my advice still stands - don't get caught - because the draconian measures in this country will find a way to screw with your life). stay close to your family even when you're angry with them. the rest will fall into place.
and remember, 5-year plans are just there to pressure you. you'll have to define your own plan and time scale. mao and stalin had 5-year plans and they weren't so great. only you will be able to tell if a plan is working for you, so don't get too caught up in other people's plans.
