Why do people have to called people by their color or race? That's why names were created, to be called by that and if that person doesn't know their name, why can't that person just say "that girl or guy sorry but I don't know their name"? I don't know..........it's just a question that I want to know, please Have a nice wonderful day Signed No One Of Importance
Oh man why is it that color seems to be the biggest controversy? Colored...hah, like you guys seem to have said like 16 or 17 times colored seems to have been put to the wrong race. And just so you guys know, in alot of cultures, the darker the skin, the more beautiful the person.
I'm "white" but, like it's been said before, I generally have some form of pigment to my face (occasionally when I'm sick with the flu, I turn virtually sheet white, as I'm rather pale anyway).
For as PC as it is, I don't use the term "black", and I won't allow people to use the term "negro" in front of me (it just seems wrong to me, but maybe you all could give me your opinions on it). Instead, if any label at all, (again, something I try to avoid) I use African American, and Asian American, etc.
The only time I use the word colored is when say, I've colored a picture, or I've colored my hair, or in it's verb form.
Foreal, people. Everyone is discussing why people are called colored and white. sure, thats a good question, argument, debate, whatever u want to call it. But really, I think u are all surfacing on the debate of racism. I am not at all racist, to tell you first off. I totally don't understand it at all!! Why the hell does someones skin color make them be hated or discriminated? I have lived in New York, North Carolina, and West Virginia, and for those of you who live in the USA, you know that the latter two are considered southern. Many people think just because of the civil war, WV is completely non-racist, but many of my neighbors have the confederate flag raised on their porches! My family runs a non-profit camp for homeless children, and we offer programs to children out of shelters all over the USA. Many people in the town and community come and check out the camp (Scottie's Place, 2002 Just One Click, scottiesplace.org) and they see all the african americans, hispanics, asian, and other nationalities combining together and working and playing as a team, and they are just amazed that people of different races can get along so well. So can someone please explain to me why skin pigment means so much to a persons opinion!?
no, all the colors of a prism put together make white. Because that would be talking about light. But all the pigments put together make black. Sorry, I couldn't help making that comment.
I just wish everyone in the world could realize that the color of your skin doesn't matter any more than the color of your eyes. I kinda wish I had dark skin; I think it's beautiful. But oh well, I have to love myself the way I am...
When I was born I was Black When I grow up I am black When I sick I am black When I go in the sun I am black When I am cold I am black When I die I am black
But You When you are born you are pink When you grow up you are white When you are sick you turn green When you go in the sun you get red When you are cold you turn blue When you die you turn purple And you have the nerve to call me COLORED!
I agree with you Spittaz, black is leiterally the absence of color, but in fact, Blacks are the one called "colored". People they distinguish as white are the ones that are colored. They turn a different color when they are in a situation they can't handle. I dunno
I am Black and Puerto Rican. My complexion is darker than some people. However, at no time did any being color me a different shade than i've always been. Therefore, to call me "colored" is stupid.
I'm white, but I find the term "colored" offensive, because it groups all non-whites into a weird "other race." With the word "colored," you can efficiently offend a lot more people than by just saying "black" or "Hispanic."
*I'm* colored. When I'm my normal self I'm peach and when I'm tired I'm white and when I'm sunburned I'm red and when I'm cold there's a little tinge of blue. Technically, everyone is *colored*. You're black, so what? I'm white, so what? I'm PROUD to be colored, just like everyone else is colored. It's really not an accurate description to peg on just one group.
It's my understanding that the new, politically correct way of referring to everyone who's not white is with the term, "people of color". Do you have a problem with that?
black is the absence of color, so how do people refer to black people as colored? White people are the ones that turn blue when it's cold, purple when they get hit, and red when they get embarressed! i don't understand black people are called colored!
