What I don't get is why the woman would hit a man in the first place. She must be stupid or really strong to think she can win a physical battle.

This is the problem with all civil rights groups in the last decade, a classic case of the oppressed becoming the oppressor. I actually had the chance to talk to a "feminist" a couple of weeks ago, and she seemed more interested in venting her hate against men in general than true equality. Just last week I held the door for an woman in her early thirties as I was leaving a gas station and she started yelling at me calling me a condencending asshole. damn. I felt like laying her out, but I was raised with a healthy respect for woman, even if they're off their rocker.

All people please remember - Minorities are always the one who have to be appeased.

Women are having more rights than before and that shall not only give women less emotional freedom but also will cause the society more harm.

What should happen is that men and women should have equal rights and there shouldn't be a biased opinion here.

Lets make world a lovely place to live in.

The woman would have to prove it, and a lot of time time they aren't believed - the dude wouldn't be thrown right into jail.
But in a way i slightly agree about double standards.
For instance there is such a defense to murder called 'battered woman syndrome' but it rarely accepted by itself. Basically it means that the woman was driven to murder her husband, or fight back resulting in his death, after years of domestic violence/suffering from him hitting her etc.
I'm sure women could be just as a abusive, or mentally abusive. I just don't think guys would be up for admitting that though (especially in court) so i guess it's never been raised, at least not to my knowledge.

I don't think that women should be allowed to hit men. However, I also think that any man who seriously hits (in a non-playful way) a woman, he needs to reassess his life.

I'm a woman, and I believe that womanhood is special, and sacred and something to respected. (Masculinity also in a different way). But man and woman are different, and have always been and will always be. However, women should be treated as equals in the way that in the courts they should be free. There's a speech by Atticus in the book, "To Kill a Mockingbird" that insert man and woman instead of black and white, and that sums up my feelings perfectly. But I'm too lazy to walk to the shelf to get my book.

I think if women are going to hit, they should expect the guy to hit back. I would never hit a man first and then flip out if he hit me back. I never have hit a guy though and hopefully never will. I usually just fight with revenge.

Also: I've been hit by guys and I've hit them back. A lot of it depends on context...

I used to get hit on a daily basis by my sister. We would be in the middle of an arguement and she would slap. I used to hit her back, not hard, but of course this angered her and he hit me back, then I hit her back, and etc.

I have been hit by a girl twice in recent years

the first time I slapped her right back, this defused the situation mainly because it shocked that world view of "guys can't hit mee.."
The second time I said "hit me like a guy one more time and I'll treat you like one" that made her back down.

Yes that whole thing is crap because guys are supposed to be Chivalrous, decent, all around awesome dudes but girls are using women's lib to get away with crap that we couldn't do. Shit I was watching Cops and this chick bashed her boyfriend in the face with a 2x4, the man was trying to talk to her. and he got bashed in the face, then arrested.

so much bullshit in the world...
