Every recent poll conducted has found that people find brunettes more attractive. And they are. Just thought I'd point that out.

Has YN ever done a blondes or brunettes poll? If not, we should, just so I can re-affirm what I already know.

I think the real issue is that many blondes come from what many consider physically attractive backgrounds, and, because of that, many have a tendency to be desired and use that to get their way instead of other means. And of course you could go back to the "hot blonde" image coming from social darwinism, in which the whitest of Europeans were considered more attractive socially, southern and eastern peoples (ie, not very blonde peoples) being considered lower on the social scale, and thus, less desirable. That now has had a small backlash, like there was a backlash of cynicism towards white people from some racial groups.

Oh yeah, but Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton are stupid and they're blond!!! Wow, way to go moron. Stereotypes = fact! Meh, I know a lot of stupid non-blondes and a lot of smart blondes, so to me the implication is just, well, really off the mark.

Stereotypes don't come out of nowhere. Alas, my mother is blonde and brilliant. But the Paris Hiltons, Anna Nicole Smiths and Kirsten Dunsts of the world don't really give blondes a reputation for being another other than dumb skanky whores.

Dear Diary,

Last year I replaced all the windows in my house with those
expensive double-pane energy-efficient kind.

But this week I got a call from the contractor who installed
them, complaining that his work had been completed a whole
year ago, and I had yet to pay for them.

Boy oh boy, did we go around!! Just because I'm blonde
doesn't mean that I am automatically stupid.

I proceeded to tell him just what his fast talking sales guy
had told me last year: namely, that in one year the windows
would pay for themselves.

There was silence on the other end of the line, so I just
hung up... and I have not heard back.

Guess I won that stupid argument!
