OK. We've all heard alot of unfair stereotypes that impune people based on nothing but culture, race, religion, ect. Here are a few:

Hispanics: all drugies who imagrated illegally
Norse: dumb jocks and geeks
Celts: More dumb jocks and geeks
Italians: good for nuthin', inherintly obese
Christians: hypocrits
Muslims: hateful and warmongers
African-Americans: smell bad, drugies
Jews: cheats out for a deal
Now we all know those are unfair observations.

Here are some examples that I have known that are the exact opposite of those stereotyps:

Hispanics: I know a hispanic man who came here legally, and what's more, learned English and became the vice-president of my college

Celts: I know a Celtic man who is neither dumb, or a geek. He is my uncle.( a burley man of 6'3")

Italian: I know an 80 somthin' year old Italian man who worked very hard in the coal mines, and is not even close to being obese.

Christian: My great-uncle was an incredible man, had utmost faith in God and I could find no faults in him. Not even close to being a hypocrite.

Those are a few people that smashed the stereotypes. Please share about people you know who show by example why stereotypes are so foolish.

Honestly, what good does telling everybody that you know a hard-working Hispanic or a generous Jew do? The point is that stereotypes are stupid by definition. Let's not sit here and be "amazed" at our own anecdotal evidence as we prove each one wrong.

Jamaicans: feisty, violent, intolerant, homophobic, ganja-smokers

almost all the Jamaicans i know are kool, and trust me, i know a lot of them!! We're not nearly as bad as the media says, and which country doesn't have its share of problems???

My mom is neither intolerant, loud fussy nor violent. Neither am i, or three-quarters of the people i know. for the next quarter, well, they're the exception, not the rule.

JAmaicans: music - oriented, rythmic, vibesy, friendly

The Yankees(as in the North not the Baseball team)

Rich, Annoying, Robbing The Working Man, Morel Free, Care Free, SOBs who drink things people from any where sane (west of Ohio or so and south of the Mason-Dixie) can't pronunce (I.E. anything from starbucks), Rascist, Idjits

Stereotypes are foolish, and obviously proven wrong in most every case. I hope this doesn't come as a surprise to you?

West Virginians- Hicks, hillbillies, moonshine mill runners, pot growers, meth makers, overall-wearers, crooked teeth, horrid accents, and ignorance.
-----Not all true. Though marajuana would be our largest cash crop if it were legal. It was our largest until they outlawed it in the early 20th century. And we have a good deal of meth labs. But overalls are seldom except in the old folks. Okay, a lot of them apply. But not to me!

south: stupid, redneck, jingoistic, republican, overweight, beer-guzzling racists.

unfortunately, that's a fairly true stereotype for the deep south although a few of us break it.

Oh, ahh.. okay...

I know I didn't refute those, I don't know any Muslims, or (predominatly) Jewish or Norse people. I do know one old black lady (I forgot about her at first) and she is definately not into drugs. She doesn't smell bad either.

Anyway, I was just throwing out random stereotypes for the readers (you) to debunk.

Uhh.. you never refuted the Norse, Muslims or Jews.

White men: Racist drinkers obsessed with sex
Gay men: Flamboyant neat freaks with a passion for fashion and sex parties (or club scenes)
Lesbians: Feminist, butch women with their hair cut short
----

Most of the white men I know: Guys who care about people's welfare and have little interest in porn or 'sexing' women who rarely slip up and make a "politically incorrect" statement and are labeled for it.
Gay men I know: Most are not into promiscuity or the club scene, don't give a shit about fashion and quite a lot of them are rather 'masculine' (whatever that means)
Lesbians I know: All (9) besides one I know have long hair, are generally not butch (as believed, anyway) and I know many more heterosexual females that are feminists than lesbians that are.
