A person is judged based on their personality and inner heart not appearance.

So, wouldn’t it be unfair to the poorer ones?
sO does that mean we shouldnt eat coz the poor ones can't afford food??
.. about the God-given arguement.. well then, i guess we shouldn't be using toothpastes, soaps and other products that are not naturally God-given too, should we?

1. This is a capitalist society with a free market, so if I sell a service any one who can pay gets it and I'm going to sell it for what people will pay for it regardless of "fair. and this is 2. a free society so if I want a new nose it's none of your buisness to try to prevent me from doing it, the same with any other body modifcation like tattoos or piercings

I mean, who are we to say, "You cannot do this to your body?"

ppl have the right to do w/e they want to their body.

I'm not going to touch the issue of plastic surgery yet...but in response to these quotes:
No you cannot.
You may not use your body in any way that you see fit. There are laws preventing it. For example, you may not go into prostitution or use certain types of drugs.
You may not spend your money in any way that you choose. You may not use your money for illegal purposes such as paying for prostitution or illicit drugs, same with donation of money to terrorist organizations.
I'm not saying that these have anything to do with one another...but I hope I've made it clear that this particular kind of argument is not exactly accurate...
Actually, all the government would have to do is declare plastic surgery a threat to national security (which, in extreme cases, it could be) and it would constitutionally be able to be banned...
"Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has." --Margaret Mead
Put an end to it? What nonsense is this? Understand that for transsexuals this is sometimes the only way to appear normal, and for ftms, the only way to get a legal sex change on your birth certificate.

No. Plastic surgery has MEDICAL and HEALTH benefits that we wouldn't want to do without. Plus, if you want to spend who-even-knows-how-much on your appearance. Go ahead. So longs it's not government aid.
No, but people need plastic surgery all the time for medical reasons. And a most of the things plastic surgeons do during their day is give stitches in parts of the body that really can't afford to be disfigured (such as the face, where not only would it decrease quality of life and self-esteem, but potentially effect face shape, and thereby function of body parts and brain and sight and such if the stitches disfigured). If you got rid of plastic surgery, we would no longer have plastic surgeons.
Furthermore, skin removal can make it easier for people to exercise, and thereby live a healthier life style, or removal of the skin above the eyelids can help prevent vision impairment by removing unneeded weight above the eyes.
Not all plastic surgery is cosmetic. In fact, most is not.
AND WE CAN DO WHATEVER WE WANT WITH OUR OWN MONEY. I'm not planning to have plastic surgery any day soon, but if I want to, you can't stop me. If I've got the cash, I can do whatever I want with it.
Just because nobody understands you, that doesn't mean you're artistic.
No I don't think plastic surgery should be abolished for the simple fact that ppl have the right to do w/e they want to their body. I don't agree with plastic surgery unless its absolutely needed like say u were in an accident.
Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, None but ourselves can free our minds - Bob Marley
Like AshleyBrook, i don't agree with plastic surgery too. They are too artificial and the fact that it is being widely commercialize are making people like me feel like being imperfect is a crime. But to ban it, is maybe a little too much. There are people who need plastic surgery to probably get rid of a sign of a bad memory like in the case of cmcrede's friend. There are also people who need it to look more normal like those people who were unlucky enough to be borned with cleft lips. So, as much as i disagree with plastic surgery,i still don't think that it should be banned. I think that parents should learn to instill confidence in their children,i think that the society should stop making physical appearance so important, and i think that everyone should learn that it's the inner beauty that matters the most.
I am against plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons whole heartedly, but I don't really think they should be banned. Of course people need to get over themselves and learn to accept what they were born with but abolishing it just takes away our general freedom. I mean, who are we to say, "You cannot do this to your body?" We have a right to voice our opinions that it is wrong and superficial, but banning it would be just as bad as banned homosexual marriage in my opinion.
I know a man named Marcus. When he was 19 a drunk driver slammed into his car. His seat belt broke and the car flipped over three times in the air. He went flying hundreds of feet. After they stabalised him and he was healthy again. They took him to a plastic surgeon for facial reconstruction. They had to ask for his senior picture to reassemble his face. After three hundred hours of plastic surgery his face is now better though he is blind.
I have a very close friend named Christine. She two was in a car accident. After a two week coma, she soon began a slow road to recovery. Two years later, now her life is back to normal. There is however a spider web shaped scar on her face that rerminds her daily of an event she would like to mov on from. Thus she is having plastci surgery to have it removed.
Yes people abuse plastic surgery, but it still has very many practical, vital uses. I mean people abuse prescription drugs so should we abolish them?

okay...first of all you said that a person is judged based on their personality not appearance sorry if you really believe this but it isn't true we base everything off of physical beauty its how our society is...for example you are not going to see a person that is not attractive and say oh man i bet they are a really nice person lets go talk to them, you would only approach someone if you are attracted to them...secondly do you use makeup?? do you diet?? do you color or cut your hair?? do you shave your legs??? We do all of these things in order to make ourselves pretty and feel pretty. Yes surgery is a little more extreme than these things are but it is still the same concept...I think we all need to start worrying about our own problems and stop trying to control everyone else...hey if you need bigger boobs or a smaller nose to feel better about yourself then I think you should do it

I don't know how I feel about this issue if I have to be honest. No, I don't want it to be "abolished" but I don't feel to good about it either(especially when it's just "because I have the money and want to"). I actually have a friend who's going to get breast implants in a few days, because she's always had this "complex" and feels like this will help her. So I know some people do it because they really feel like it will help them psychologically, but I can't avoid questioning it anyway...Maybe she should be in therapy instead of getting an operation, or both at least. Like why does she have this complex in the first place? Obviously society gives us this image of what "beauty" is that in turn plays a major role in these things...So I don't know. No I don't think it should be abolished, but I don't love it either. I also feel like these things can sometimes be cover ups for much deeper things, and that by getting certain operations we are avoiding getting to the root cause of the problem, and we avoid having to really deal with it by only resolving the superficial cause. It's a complicated issue, granted.

Plastic surgery also helps people to feel better about themselves and have stronger self-confidence. For that reason alone, it shouldn't be abolished.
