Why are people so racist against black people?
People say racism is over, But at my school it's still alive. You may not want to admit it, but it is. You can't sit at an all white table without looking weird. You can't hang out with all white people with people wondering what's wrong with you. People are racist against white too. If they listen to rap they think they are acting black. Are sagging there pants. If a white person is hanging out with an all black crowd, They say he acting black. My point is racism is still alive. It doesn't matter.

Affirmative action is a positive form of racism in a way. It's still bad, but it hides behind a positive idea. People should be hired into jobs on the basis of qualifications, not the color of their skin, their gender, oreintation, etc.

My dad works as a head of an electrical engineering division of a company and there aren't very many female electrical engineers out there period. So the ones that apply, he pretty much has to hire to keep up the ratios. Even if there are men applying that are MUCH more qualified. There are women engineers that are really good that work for him. It's the same thing with races.

He has some Asians that work for him, and they have some knowledge. But he's having a really hard time, because blacks typically aren't electrical engineers. Don't know why, but just because they don't pick that career, the ones that do have a higher chance of getting a job because of it? How does that make sense?

There are more female nurses than male in the world. Fact. So why don't we nail down on the hospitals for their ratios being predominantly female in that respect if we're going to get down on the engineers for being predominantly male in ratio?

There comes a point when tolerance becomes coddling. And for that reason, I hate laws that essentially give minorities (and women) a better chance at getting into college, getting a job, etc. They don't deserve those special rights. In fact, all they do now is exploit them. So what if my Mexican next door neighbor can't speak English, doesn't know how to drive, and couldn't tell you the three branches of government if his life depended on it? He's Mexican, therefore he'll be more likely to get into college than I, a smart white guy, will.

And amazingly, that's perfectly fair. At least according to the government. Go government.

That's why I hate those standardized test things. I also hate race specific scholarships. I was looking at National Merit and they had National Achievement, for black kids only. Somehow, that implied to me that black kids needed to be better rewarded for their PSAT scores. Like they were somehow less likely to be smart than white kids or kids of other races.

I agree entirely. Why do we keep asking people what their race is on different things? I mean, if we don't continually recognize that there are different races, people won't continue noticing the difference. This is why on all school tests I mark mixed as my race (saying that my 1/32 or so of Cherokee blood justifies it). They always ask that, and on score averages, we're PUT IN DIFFERENT CATEGORIES!

We're all people, thus we should be categorized as people.

You will never get rid of racism, discrimination, or hatred between peoples. Likewise, you'll never get rid of war or killing, or any of the so-called evils of the world. No matter how hard you protest or how hard you try and fight it, evil will exist, for it exists within the hearts of men and spawns from the simplest interworkings of their creations. It is not human nature to be kind or tolerant, nor is it nature's tendency to forgive humans for the wrong that they have done unto the natural world.
You are an optimistic fool to think racism or hate, or evil will ever vanish.

of course racism does exist. i live in a small town in Georgia, believe me, i know. and it doesn't matter how many times you chastise someone for using the n-word. they'll still ue it. it's something taught parent-to-child, so unless that can be broken or amended there's little chance of wiping it out completely.

But we have to take a positive additude and try to stamp it out. Give us a couple of hundred years, if we haven't managed to screw over the world by then. . .

No, when different races are eliminated, socioeconomic backrounds will be used. When that is eliminated, beauty will be. When that is eliminated, political party will be next. We will continue fighting because we're humans; saying eliminating X or Y thing is complete bullshit and shows unawareness of human nature.

Unfortunately, that's nigh exactly what he means. I disagree with you (again), Reactionary.

Let's think. Abraham Lincoln lived in the 1800's. We live in the twenty-first century. Well, I'd call this want to end racism progressing. Why do you think that blacks or any race are insuperior to your race (aryan)?

So you're saying we should fight to eliminate any race you deem "lesser" so that we can be a peaceful nation? Mull this one over: "Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity."

Racism is rediculous i mean don't get me wrong i am a white female but it all started with my race and im ashamed of it!!

It did not start with whites. Racism/persecution based on ethnicity or religion has been a prominent force since the dawn of civilization. People were persecuted therough the middle ages, biblical times, age of exploration, WWI, WWII, etc through to today all over the world, and to everyone not just blacks vs whites. There have been black vs black (ex. in nigeria, the government still has issues due to ethnicity differences between over 250 native ethnicities in that nation, mostly between the Fulanis, Yorubas, and Igbos), white vs white (and there have been many) (ex. Hitler and the people of his conquered lands, whom he persecuted everyone but those of Arayan dissent), and much much more. Also, during the early 1900s, immigrants coming to America such as the IRish and Italians were very harshly persecuted against. They had substantial troubles finding jobs and many were forced to live in meager slums and ghettoes if they even had any home at all.

There have been countless human persecutions against a another group. It just so happens that the world nowadays is more globalized an concerned with such atrocities as racism. Therefore its more apt to be recognized in today's world. Because of so much cultural diffusion racism is much more obvious.

Unfortunately, racism is not over and most definitely never will. It is comparable to a group mentality situation in an elementary school. A large group off children pokes fun at a one child because he is fat. All of the other children feel superior and prod him as well. This is just like racism. It is human nature to crave power, and once one group holds the power, they feel superior and justified in running down everyone else. It is not just whites against blacks either. It is far far far more complex than that.
