I am sorry that was a tipping error. I meant to say Also as you said you did not count attacks on Israel and the war in Iraq, and Afghanistan. Basically, the war in these places was not considered in a list of terrorist activity.

I need to correct my statement. The terrorist attacks have not gone down since 9-11, however more plots are being stopped, so just because there are not a lot of large terrorist attacks does not mean that there is not a terror threat. The terror threat is real. Also as you said you did not cant attacks on Israel and the war in Iraq, and Afghanistan. But these places should come onto consideration because that’s were all the terrorists are going. We have brought the fight to their homeland, so they are trying to expel us from the Middle East. Instead of attacking us in our homes.

I forgot to comment on the Beltway Sniper, who Nephilem mentioned. While John Allen Muhammad is a member of the Nation of Islam (not mainstream Islam by any stretch), his attacks were an apparent attempt to extort $10 million dollars, not random terrorist attacks, and definitely not in the name of Islam, unlike al Qaeda terrorist attacks. He doesn't really fit the bill of the usual Muslims terrorist.

Well to look at terrorist attacks we have 9-11, DC sniper, British Subway Bombing, British American airlines plot, Terror attacks on Israel, and the list goes on.
If we are to count the major terrorist events in the West since 2001, we would have roughly 4: 9/11, Madrid in 2004, London in 2005, and the British Airways plot in 2006. There may be others that escape memory at the moment, but these are the four biggest. I don't count suicide bombings in Israel because Israel has been under constant attack since its creation in 1947. I also don't count bombings in Iraq because they are not so much terrorist attacks as they are guerrilla resistance attacks (either way, they aren't targeted against the West, rather Western "invaders").
So, four (or so) major attacks over the span of five years, and only two involving airplanes, one of which never actually occurred.

I would actually say that terrorist attacks have increased since America's War on Terror began. Before the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, only al-Qaeda had reason to attack us and mainly for our presence in Saudi Arabia during and after the Persian Gulf War. After those two invasions, however, any radical Muslim has reason to do us harm, since we have invaded two sovereign Arab nations in what they see as an attempt by Western powers to once again colonize the Middle East.
If you have any statistics for a decrease in terrorist attacks since our little war began, I'd like to see them. As for my claim that such attacks have increased, I must only point to Iraq where American soldiers and Iraqi citizens are killed every day by roadside bombs and suicide attackers. I don't think I need to remind anyone how this never happened before 2003.
