I never mentioned that i think either can be overcomed. You can work hard to not be poor weather you are a minority or impovershed, if you live in present day america. Blacks were not treated any differently when they didnt work by our "liberal government". They can not work and live poor just like my welfare abusing neighbors do i suppose but that doesnt mean they all do. You need to get more experience than your "rural community"

I have talked to black people and the ones i have talked to dont think anything like that. There are as many whites that think they shouldnt have to do anything too. Infact I know more whites that do nothing than blacks. You are allowed to have your oppinion but you cannot discriminate from that oppinion because that is against the basis of our constitution. What I am saying is that some races or religions are discriminated against a lot and people would rather not give them jobs but would rather kill them (not just in the united states). They are not given the jobs because of ability but because they are black. I know this happens because I know people that have not hired because of race. My uncle is sooo racist becausehe use to live in a bad naeighborhood where almost everyon was bad not just the blacks.

Just because someone is black and someone is white doesn't mean they are less of a person. And have you ever REALLY talked to a black person? they think white people are crap... they hate us for just being US! it is a total double standard, but it is ok because a 100 or some years ago my great-great-great-great grandparents had their great-great-great-great grandparents as slaves! I don't have slaves, and lots of these black people think that they don't have to do a lick of work because of it, AND THEY DON'T! (thanks to a liberal gov't) i'm not saying that all blacks are evil and whites are superior, but lets get real here?! people will natually segregate themselves, not because they think they will get a weird-other-race-virus, but because it is just the way people are. why is ****** a bad word when they can call us ******s, crackers, rednecks, hicks etc...? IT IS A JUST A WORD! unless you try to kill all black people, why can't a person have a formed opinion, or is that going to be banished soon too?

Blacks, Whites, eveyone of us, we're always using that excuse especially us Blacks about how we're mistreated. Okay some people do frown down on us and treat us real nasty because of our color but thats not always the case. If we fail all our test in our Science class and receive an "F" are we going to say is because of our color. When the terrorist crashed into the buildings no they weren't thinking about color because they killed some of their own people as well.
How do we know it was people in Afghanistan? How do we know anything concrete? All we know is than we're doing what America does best, "come together" and FIGHT! Thats all we do, than when we found out we made a mistake we try to cover it. Bush was wrong in my eye sight to say about the two men that died that "Well, others are going to die."
Its hurtful and to me very unproffessional. In this day we have a lot more to worry about than race. We we all were scared, you seen us come together no matter what our color was. Let's stay that way!

I think that race is part of the problem. The reason that some people are poor is race and that other people do not like them. In other parts of the world there is so much violence caused by religion differences that generations are being killed. They are poor because they are suppressed, they are suppressed from their religion or race. Affirmitive action and different treatments recognizes the problems but makes adds other differences that were not their. People should be able to get by on their own talents and should be encouraged to do so. profiling or affirmitive action just makes the problem worse. all peolpe no matter what their religion or race should have the same oppertunities. affirmitve action tells discriminates against the majority and is a doulbe standard. The answer is to give the a widespread message of equality.

They have kidnapped american aide workers because they were trying to spread religion and they did not want american help because they were made from the lack of american help. They formed by America not helping clean up its own mess.

I may be considered liberal, but I really don't like affirmative action. Okay, MAYBE it might be more affective in areas with little diversity and lots of racial intolerance, but where I live (near Los Angeles), white people are the MINORITY. In every school I went to, white people were far outnumbered by Asians and Hispanics. In colleges, where affirmative action is really put in place, there is also often a minority of white students and a majority of, say, Asian students. But many colleges continue to prefer to accept non-white students in many California colleges!
I think that it's all about poverty. The reason why so few black students, for example, attend college is because (according to the statistics my sociology teacher gave me) black people are 3 times as likely to be poor than white people. But it's not fair to assume that all the poor are a certain race: TWO-THIRDS of the poor in America are white!
Poor children almost always attend schools that receive little funding and are often run down with few materials, and this makes it more difficult for these children to learn. Wealthy students attend well-funded schools with lots of good materials, and so they get a better education. I experienced this first-hand: the elementary school I attended was in a fairly wealthy neighborhood, and I got a good education, using up to date materials and having enthusiastic teachers. But then I attended a middle school in a less well-off area, and there were few books or materials... and the teachers didn't care about teaching, either!
So I think that is there is to be affirmative action, it should be applied to potential students based on family income, NOT race. Using the race card just shows stereotyping: that all black, Hispanic, and Native Americans are poor and unable to get a good education, and all white and Asians are wealthy and privilaged
