Actually, men have not dominated since the beginnning of time. There is a book called The Chalice and the Blade that talks about gender roles and how they have evolved through the years.. I reccomend it.

"Equal in all aspects" is impossible. There should be equal standards for everyone, such as, you can't stock shelves unless you can lift at least 50 pounds. Having a lower requirement for women isn't going to help them pick up that big case of sugar any easier. Being politically correct in all mannars and angles won't get the job done. Having qualified people working will.

actually this isnt the first case of male dominance ive herd of comeing from walmarts female employees. it is complete and utter bull, i completely agree with that. women and men should be equal in all aspects of life weather it be the workplace or just staying home with the kids. it this day and age such close mindedness should not exist.

and nothing else I challenge you to name two great female inventors. Don't think to hard there are none because from fire on forward to nuclear fission men have done everything this does not mean the sexes are not equal, just that when it comes to total points towards civilization men are up by a couple hundred points (note this is just as much me being and ass as making a point, if your offended I invite you to go stop taking yourself so seriously

Thats great Trisscar, sounds like you have a pretty healthy relationship. I wasnt pointing specifically you, or anyone out. I guess it didnt come out how i wanted it to. I think what I was trying to say was its kind of the 'rule' of dating in general that the male pays for the date and all that jazz. I know theres a lot of exceptions, but just the fact that its 'supposed' to be that way. Ahh i cant write how i want to, haha, sorry I cannot express what I want to say if my life depended on it.

EllieN - I personally don't expect my BF to spend anymore money on me as I spend on him. In fact in our relationship we try toshare everything equally, I'll pay and he'll pay and sometimes its equal and sometimes its not. For example. I payed 200 dollars to see him in return he paid for my meals/movie that doesn't equal out in my favour, but in other circumstances its been the other way around.

Sorry I didnt read all of the posts below because there are quite a few of them, so correct me if im restating someone.
Ive thought about this for a while, and while women complain and say we dont have the same rights/equal pays ..yadda yadda.. women still expect men to pay for dinners, buy them nice things (which is genrous, but besides the point) etc. If women want to push so far to try and make our society totally equal, I dont think theyre helping by keeping this tradition.
Maybe this is a little hardcore but I could see a decent argument

Apparently, in Washington State, it's illegal to make up any part of the minimum wage in tips. I didn't know that.

working as a waiter is horrible. Stressful and doesn't pay well at all. I wasn't aware that women got payed less in that particular brach of work, I though the inequality's where more present in office type jobs.

It is and it was, The and i wasn't getting proper tips either, I had to split them with the manager. It was a really bad job and after i quit the restaraunt had to close.

Just popping in from lurking... I think it's legal if you work at a place where you get regular tips. I had a friend who worked at a chain restaurant who made half the minimum wage because she was a server.

Hmm I was going through threads and I thought I should make a point. I worked at a restaraunt and was being paid 7 dollars an hour, which is 1.50 bellow minimum wage in Canada. A Guy who was also 4 years younger than me and had less senoirity was getting paid 10 dollars an hour for the same job. Just because he was a guy and my boss wanted men to have the job over women because they were more "valuable". I quit of course after I found out, I found it really disgusting. Another restaraunt I worked at I was told straight out that the boss didn't want women working there that they'd rather have men working. The truth is women are equal to men, but wages have still not equaled out and there isn't the same amount of value put on their work. Men still get paid more the Women and are more valued as employees, and well it's not fair.

I am not sure what the second and third part of this quotation means but I assume it has something to do with Wal-Mart hating women, which of course is a very thought out point. Women are equal to men in everything but strength (generally). Your mom should probably quit if she doesn't like it there.
I would agree, except there's the whole, "Surrendering" thing. Say Wal-Mart's managers abuse the employees, verbally or what-have you. Should not Wal-Mart act? Should not Wal-Mart, instead of having her mother quit, put a stop to harassment?
