Okay, I'll put my foot in my mouth for like two secs. I did stereotype. It's just that what I've seen and my experience with these types of people (and don't jump down my throat, because they are types of people)feed into what i believe most of you to be. I'm not saying all goths wear black nail polish and sneer at everyone they meet. I'm notdenying it's a state of mind. I'm just saying it is a trend now, and it sickens me how far some people will go to be accepted. I do know people who are goth, and hey are some of the best friends i have, but I do know quite alor of ****ing *******s who walk around wearing black and throwing insults and anyone who looks at them. If you ask them why they have to act like that they're answer is," I'm a goth...whatever." I mean, if you disagree with me and say I'm talking bull****, more power to you. Youthnoise gave you a voice and you chose to use it to call me a ****ing moron.

i didnt say metal is dead. i said it was crap.

i guess you are into punk--yeah kid icarus and afi and nofx are alright. but the ideals of punk are dead

metal and punk is crap. trance, trip hop, and new age is what i listen to. and like i said before, what you listen to does NOT matter.

quote:
But goths do have a least one friend

i know alot of people. but i dont talk to any of them. only one of them has tried to get me to talk to people. but i still dont trust him.

earth goddess Razz there i'm done.

anyways yeah i was agreeing with you that goth is a state of mind.

But goths do have a least one friend. for my friend luci (short for luci-furr) (his real name mike) this other dude and i are his. he doesn't go around being friend with everyone.

yeah and the stuff about angry teens-yes that's true to, but he said that it is all fake why they are angry. he doesn't know. (he being herapike)

and the only reason i wear polo is to make my mom happy. she was a cheerleader in high school and can't stand goth. when i started to dress the way i felt she started to take away my music. i can't live without my music!! so i dress preppy she'll let me listen to who ever i want.

metal is dead? listen to yondermilk--they are really good.

i guess you are into punk--yeah kid icarus and afi and nofx are alright. but the ideals of punk are dead- Smile .

have a nice day

but music helps your state of mind. you can't listen to Britney Spears and be goth.

it dosent matter what they listen to. its in their hearts.

quote:
that is metal and rock. punk is dead. it was just sumthin to go against authority. while metal is so much more.

metal is crap. but thats my opinion...

quote:
i have been thru sh*t, i don't have to stir it up-it's there. never judge sumone and say they haven't been thru sh*t when you haven't lived they're lives.

when they talk about things like "i've been thru more sh*t than you" then there is a possibility that they aren't goths. they're just angry teens.

quote:
yes we might dress the same as our friends, but they are our comfort zones. they are the thing that keeps us alive.

alot of goths dont have friends. and dont want friends. they rely on themselves.

quote:
we do not wish pain on everyone. the only time we say that is because we want you to know what it is like to be in our shoes

that just turns you into an a**...

quote:
i bet that surprized you huh?

no...

(to hermaphromike) holy shiza! what the hell are you thinking that goths just sit there and stir up sh*t in their lives and just sit there and cry. YOU HAVE NO IDEA ON THIS SUBJECT!!

my friend gets beaten by her dad. yeah she wants to be goth so she goes up to her dad and asks for his hits. no! she tries not to think about it-she really does.

the preps at our school make fun of her. did she go and ask them to? NO! she is one of the sweetest girls i kno.

she listens to the music and understands it, as do i, for i, like her have been thru more sh*t than most people do in a life time. I DON'T WANT TO FEEL THIS WAY!! but i do. the music helps me so much. i feel it. it is everything to me. that is metal and rock. punk is dead. it was just sumthin to go against authority. while metal is so much more. i am happy for you that you have a good life--but don't go around sayin that we stir up shiza and just sit there and cry about it. cuz that is BULL SH*T!! i have been thru sh*t, i don't have to stir it up-it's there. never judge sumone and say they haven't been thru sh*t when you haven't lived they're lives.

yes i will agree that sum goths are dramaqueens/kings but don't make that random assuption for everyone. there are some that want everyone to be like them. that is not goth. yes we might dress the same as our friends, but they are our comfort zones. they are the thing that keeps us alive. we do not wish pain on everyone. the only time we say that is because we want you to know what it is like to be in our shoes, for you to see what you are generalizing as some drug satanistic junkies that want to rule the world and commit acts of prep sacrifice. we just hurt, alot. if you want you can talk to us, we won't kill you i promise Smile . we are nice people who just feel like the world has turned its back onto us. prove to us we're wrong. please.

yes i dress the way i like. i wear polo and ambercrombie and adidas. i wear berkinstocks. i wear sean jean and air force ones. i have brown highlighted hair and i wear regular preppy makeup. i bet that surprized you huh? i don't look goth but the way i dress has nothing to do with the way i feel.

my friends are all over: the hispanics (que onda?), the ghettos, the preps, the 'punks', the goths, the stoners, the junkies, the jesus freaks, the goody two shoes, and yes even the s.l.u.t.s.

I play basket ball, soccer, softball, and tae kwon do. I have a steady job at the boys and girls club.

but i am goth. that's me. so yes, i guess it is a state of mind.

thanks for listening Smile

punk has nothing to do with being different. it's all about the way you dress and the music you listen to, and acting like you don't care even though you do so you can be accepted into a scene.

the "punk rockers" around today have no clue as to what punk rock really was, it angers me, walking around sporting hot topic clothes with GC patches and what not...but then again, i've seen people sporting the usuall exploited, sex pistols, DK patches that have no clue too, punk rock is dead! and why is it dead? because it was never alive, it started as a style of music and in sense, a way of life, and now its become a fasion, people have no clue what its like to be different anymore, why? because it makes them uncomfortable, they like to think they are different because they dont dress like the general population but they are just the same, they stand out sure, but there are tons and tons of them now, they all look and dress and think the same, going around saying, im punk rock, or im goth, people are just stupid, let them do what they want, ignorance is bliss and they all seem pretty happy right? im now going to poke at the goth stereotype... depressed, angst ridden poets...ha..they try to hard to be sad, their lives are **** because they make it ****, they stir up their own drama, and then they revel in it, oh woe is me they cry, i dont know im just rambling, i should try writing in order and not just ramble out my thoughts, but basically, whether they are shouting anarchy rules, or mumbling im depressed, they both are stupid and ignorant and really have no idea what it is to be different anymore, it was different back when it started, and after a while more and more people take it in for themselves and it becomes a fad, and a fashion, there are but a few punk rockers or goths that really stand out, they are the smart ones, they are the ones i accept, they know they are just playing out a stereotype but they dont care, personally i will befriend anyone as long they are intelligent and arent sheep, i hate people that follow the masses, and as long as they meet a few other requirments, i myself wear what i like and listen to what i like, you can catch me listening to the dead kennedys, you can catch me listening to the phantom limbs, Nine inch nails and marilyn manson, you can catch me listening to anything as long as i like it and wearing anything; im just me, and thats all i want to be

lol, thats so true.

What I can't understand is the people who walk around in short skirts and nail polish and claim to be punk, or gothic, I think mostly my friend do that, but it's celebertys too.

what we mean by beeing different and beeing ourselves doesn't nessasarily mean our clothes. it's our attitude. it means we can go out to the mall and play the penis game (a game where one person yells penis and then the next and the next and it gets louder each time till peeps start to chicken out. the last one still yellin is the winner) and not be afraid of what peeps will think of us. i'd do it. if peeps have a problem with me being me then that's too bad. we're not afraid to say exactly how we feel about things. that's what we mean by beeing diff. i think ur a bit conceded if u think it's all about the cloths. i have plenty of friends who r prepps (even though their attitudes and constant giggles can sometimes get on my nerves) and some goths and even a few ghetto. there's nothing wrong. neway just know it's not about the clothes. just giving the kind of people a name like punk or goth made them into a group. I hate stupid names like that and like jock, and popular and crap. and posers! someone who dresses like punk is not a poser, they just like the clothes. if they brag about how they're punk, then they aren't punk. i'm making this really confusing aren't i? ummm, ok, for me, i like punk music. i also like oldies, hard rock, and classical. i like some of the punk clothes, and i do have some, but basically, i wear whatever i can afford. I just try to be myself, and i don't care what people call me.

but music helps your state of mind. you can't listen to Britney Spears and be goth. when your goth you actually understand what the music is about. it is like your healing thing. not just a few riffs and catchy lines.

have a nice day Wink

Gothic: middle age German

damnit no mystery and darkness here Wink

just playin, our teacher made us look it up.

um yeah, who said that punks/goths were a pillar of hate? usually we ban together because we are hated. sumtimes we are the outcasts, the ones left over. the ones who actually have had a hard life unlike some of you. being a Manson fan is not just a f*cking fashion statment. we feel therfore we dress. we understand what Manson and KoRn and all the other bands are saying. please look past the hyped up image in the bands. in fact just go and read their lyric right now! look past the sex drugs and violence. see the pain and agony.

there you will find the underlaying truth of what we are.

(ps look at white world on the mechanical animals cd from Manson. it tis be a great song.) Wink

Yo dawgs. Heh I just wanted to *iss y'all off a bit. Ok first of all. Why are you trying to make yourself more popular by dissing an entire group of people? Man seems like now I can't wear my gorgeous $52 hot topic pants without someone saying that I'm 1) a wanna be or 2) scary. N yah I'm not a total punk/goth/ what the F*** ever. I'm Jennifer. Why don't instead of being one in a "group" you be an indivual like me? No wait DONT do that. I'm Jennifer PLEASE don't copy me. Then there'd be two of us and thatd be a group. Now I'll try to stop being rude to you. Who gives a flying flip what group your in as long as you eventually get where you want to go? In my opinon thats all that really matters any more in this world.

don't ****ing make such a sweeping generalisation. a lot of so called 'punks' listen to **** like blink 182 and scum 41. they give real punks a bad name. i personally don't give a **** if someone is a prep, goth, raver or whatever as long as they don't say **** about me for being punk

Actually I do know what I'm talking about Jayb87a. Who are you to judge me in the first place? You've never met or even talked to me at any point in my life. I never stated that I was a bad person at all. I just oppose to the way life is set up; rules, those that control your life without consent, ect... At times I have the appearance of a "good-girl" because I'm what people would call friendly and considerate. And I'm not a wanna-be. All I'm doing is trying to achieve self-actualization. I'm not following any groups for that matter, so you can just drop that line. And when I was defining the terms Goth and Punk, I did it generally for those who let alone misunderstand them. Sorry if I offended anyone, but that's my job it seems. No matter where I go, someone will always disagree and start the hating all over again. But like I care????

yeah, I don't think jayb87a really said anything about punks/goths/etc. not doing well in school or any other of the things voiceinacrowd mentioned. I do hate generalizations like that (while I'm not one to label myself, most people seem to think I'm a "punk," and I graduated valedictorian of my senior class). The topic was about being cliquey, I don't know where all that other stuff came from..

Okay voice in a crowd, for one thing...I never said in my post that Goths were "devil-worshippers". Let's not have a religious battle right now okay? And I know what Goth means, I'm not a total moron, but I am going to stick by my statement that it has become a trend and there are very few "true" goths left. Right now, I don't care about what your opinion is because it sounds to me like you really don't know what you're talking about. Since you're still a newbie, I think you're confused. And you totally contradicted yourself in your post. You say you're so bad, but you have the nerve to go to church and state you're a virgin and you make A's & B's. Trust me, if you were bad, you wouldn'y go to church, you probably would be a ****, and you wouldn't even be in school. You're what I call a "wannabe rebel". Talk to me when you know what the **** you're talking about.....
