I'm sure you've read George's story by now. Have you ever been the victim of racism?

I may be white but people don't get how a white person is made fun of we get called "white crackers whigers white bread honkies"and people don't realize it I am not racist or prejaduce I don't make fun of blacks or other races.I have known this guy since kindegarden but he talks about white people LIKE DOGS! I just happened to be one of those people I was really hurt! But I haven't said anything till this day he acts like he's soooo religous then he talks about white people.I wish i could JUST STOP the hate between whites and blacks.

I'm a Puerto Rican, but I dont look Latina, thanks to my father. (only my S body, thanks mom). And to finish it all off, my last name is in English. And so is my first name, Stephanie. My second name is in Spanish, and my second last name is also in Spanish. I have a Scottish dad and Puerto Rican mom, and my face and skin are white, but my body is latina.

So I'm made fun of a lot. Kids at school called me "gringa" (which is a Spanish slang used to adress Americans, thought I have no American blood), and even worse I speak a perfect English. But my Spanish is oh-so Puerto Rican. So I've always been teased because of my mix.

When I'm around Americans (especially girls) they say stuff about me, thinking I dont know English. Then I shock them with my English knowledge. When I meet racist Americans, they hate me, but then they get to know me, and they don't mind my mixed-race thing. Then they say I'm funny. Of course, some of us never get along.

I remember in April I went on a cruise, and this Texan 13-year-old boy asked me if I was illegally in the cruise (and man did i resist the urge to choke him). I spent an hour explaining him how Puerto Ricans can come and go to the U.S as they wish, because we (as in U.S and Puerto Rico) have a commonwealth). Still, he asked me if I carried a knife because I'm Puerto Rican (I've been asked this tons of times before), i told him my usual answer "and a dagger."

I think people are racist ebcause they dont know about one another's culture. Like, some girls say stuff about Puerto Ricans, but I tell them about our foods, arts, dances, music, etc and they become cool with me. And I admit I was not fond of Americans a year ago, but since I studied American history this year, I admire what they've been through and how they solved problems. And I really like the quotes; "It is not an army we must prepare for war; it is a nation." and "Dont ask what the giverment can do for your country; ask what you can do for your country."

To pertain to the topic, I have been a 'victim' of racism. Living in California, there is a ton of Mexicans. My Dad is a boss of many furniture stores and he work with them, they called us 'White bread' 'White *****s' ect. At school, I hang out with some Asian, Black and Mexican girls and I am the only white girl, people say some really mean things. Some people said I belonged to the KKK and I was almost expelled. This is when I went to a public school.

I'm not racist. I'm an anti-dentite.

Very diverse actually. I've been there and they're just as diverse as the US.

growing up in alot of Black and Spanish areas...yeah I have been a victim many times.

Walking down a street a black preacher stopped in the middle of his sermen, pointed to me and said "there goes the white devil now."

A black man on a subway sat across from me saying "kill whitey" over and over.

On the campus of NYU a black man circled me saying "the white man is evil, we must destroy the evil!"

In a job I had I worked with lots of spanish people and one of them always tried to fight me by using insults such as "white boy", "white bread" or "whitey". A black guy said to me that this guy thought I was a "punk"(street slang for wimp) and he wanted to "get me"(street slang for who knows...most likely being stabbed).

Online I met a Puerto Rican girl who was all down with me and we were talking about lots of cool stuff. Her sister got on and said she wouldn't let her sister talk to any white boy and that if I botherd her she would get her crew and they would kill me. We were from the same state.

One time I was online and i was talkin to this boy, he was about 16. And we were having a real good convo and i asked him what race was he and he said pr (puerto rican) and i said cool he asked the same question and i said Black. he got quiet for a real long time, and then he said u black B***h. i was shocked, i said i cant believe u r rasist. it really made me sick.

last summer i went to a christian camp in texas, our church was from collage park G.A., every one in our group ws black during our meetings i used to always get dirty looks from he wite girls in the chairs next to us, me being a person that hates for anyone not to like me, comfronted theese girls and asked them if they had a promblem with me and my friends, the girls backed away from us and said,"YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO APPROACH ME YOU SHOULD BACK OFF AND GO GET MY FOOD AND SERVE ME LIKE A GOOD LITTLE N***ER, AND YOU ALL SHOULD TAKE BATHS BEFORE YOU COME CLOSER THAN 5ft CLOSE TO ME".and her other friend said,

why would your country think that all white people are racist? Thats a really nieve thing to say. There are racist people everywhere. And not every white person is racist. So dont say that! I would be the last one to ever be racist.

I'm white and I've experienced racism a lot. People think that whites don't have to deal with racism against them, but that right there is a racist idea. When someone makes a joke bout somebody who's black (not a mean one, but just a joke) and I don't get it for whatever reason, they laugh and say "It's because your white." They think that all whites are smart, that we all have nice houses, that we all have perfect families. That's so far from the truth!!! I'm smart, but I live in a crappy apartment and am poor, and my family is...whacked?!? I can't swear up on here...so yeah...bear with me. Racism just needs to end. Somebody being better or worse than you has nothing to do with race, sex, or age. It all has to do with the person on the inside. The judgements you make right off the bat from what someone looks like, will always be wrong when you actually meet and talk to that person. Well, maybe not always...have to try and be politically correct or people will eat my head off, but you know what I mean. So everyone...hear me: Whites feel the heat of racism everyday. We aren't unexposed as many are led to believe.

I have a question. Can anybody tell me how it is now in the "South"? I mean... uh... well, like is there still a lot of racism? In areas? Don't get me wrong, know it existed all over. Nearby Milwaukee was one of the most segregated cities, I think. Last year we drove through a little town in Missouri. At a gas station, there were anti-black writings on the walls and my siblings got pretty dirty looks from the cashier. I am just curious about the condition of racism against blacks in the south today.
