I've seen many people in my time trying so hard to become accepted by "teh popular" group that its sickening. Why do people change their lifestyles, their hair color, their entire personality in order to be popular?? We try so hard to become accepted by a group of people who honestly don't care who we are and from my experience will ditch you if you wear the wrong type of clothing.... what kind of friend is that? Nothing against the popular people do not get me wrong I jsut don't understand why people try so hard to be accepted.
Honestly, I don't think there is a such thing as individuality(spelling lol) becuase people who say they are individuals becuase they 'go agaisnt the flow' aren't really individuals at all. Like it or not, there are ALOT of people who go against the flow... so yes your personality may be 'inidiual' or whatever you call it, but like it or not, your not really an individual if all you can do is hide behind people hoping not to be noticed by anyone. an individual in my book is someone is who they are and not afraid to express it... even when its uncool!

I tend to use that phrase a lot when I can't really think of anything to express the thousands of thoughts running around in my mind(just a lil reference lol) I do agree with your point about how the hte popular get away with alot of things that in any other case would be unacceptable. However, I disagree with riduculing people. maybe I take it to a personal level and take it however you want and stereotype me however you want but I cringe when I see people making fun of other people. I find it so ignorant and completely unneccesary on their part. I grew up in a town where everyone knew everyone(literally it was only 1 square mile lol) Gossip as you could imagine spread around like wildfire. well anyways onto my point... I had gotten shoved in the mud(i will never forget it) by one of the popular kids and I was ridiculed so badly that it stings when i think about it(like i said i remember everything) Anywayz, although it may seem like harmless riduciling.... ridiculing leads to disagreements and misunderstandings which lead to fihgts which lead to grudges which eventually lead to a lifetime of people beating the stuffing out of each other. Just something to think about next time you want to ridiculeSmile

haha... hi katie... yeah, i think i get what you're saying now. but i have another pet peeve about the "popular" group at school... though most of them like me, i'm not a big fan of many of them. and the one thing that irritates me more than any other, is when it is acceptable for somebody from their group to do or say something that would otherwise be considered unacceptable by them. for instance, if one of the popular guys were to pass gas or something, most people would laugh and he'd be off the hook immediately. if a not so popular kid did it, he'd be ridiculed and scorned... personally, i think that if anyone can't keep their bodily gases to themselves in a class room they probly should receive a little bit of ridicule, but you get the basis of my complaint right? write back and tell me more,

hhehe we talk again... I think you misunderstood my point I was trying to make concerning people becomes robotic and to a CERTAIN EXTENT(which i failed to mention b4) their is no such thing as individuality. Where I coem from there is an elite group so to speak of people and so many people, the vast majority anywayz try to change themselves in order to fit in the. I thank God I was saved at a young age of four becuz as I look back , I knwo where I could have been... a druggie, a prostitute any of those things. But God thru his grace showed me that I don't have to live my life trying to please everyone else that if I am truly happy with who I am everything else is ok(for the most partSmile i actualy used to be one of those people who changed herself in order to be liked by that small group of people(ther was such a thing) and I regret it
well my mom is kicking me off lol so i will have to make my post short

i understand what you mean when you say that too many people are trying to fit into the "popular" crowd, but when you think about it, there is no "popular crowd" because every group has many people. sure there are a few that don't include themselves with the rest of the school or the school doesn't include them for one reason or another. i know first hand like most people what it's like to try to fit in. i tried partying and experimenting with drugs and alcohol, but before it got serious i found christ. once i became a christian i had no reason to seek acceptance among people; i had the joy in my heart knowing that i had favor with god. i suppose people want to be looked at as 'cool' or what have you, but by changing their personality, they rid themselves on individualism. i don't agree with you saying that whether we like it or not, we are all robotic and trying to gain popularity. i'm perfectly happy with my social status and i refuse to alter my personality to accent that of the "popular" group's. i have an ever-growing circle of friends in my school, church, and elsewhere... therefore, i don't feel the need to act like someone i'm not. i think that is an act of vanity in a sense. if someone is so concerned about the way others think of them that they would change their personality or even lifestyle, then i say that person had no individual personality to begin with. we see it all too often. that is why i love this website. the variety of people personalities is so vast that it boggles my mind. where i live, most of the people are either redneck hicks or gangster wannabees. i find it rather amusing actually. sadly, that is probably the best example anyone could give of lacking individuality. one way or another, my personality clashes with that of many others. i don't want it to, but i also won't change my ways for them.

Well thank you for that depressing post that tells me that even if I am as much myself as i can be, I will never be an "individual". Oh! My life is changed! I now realize I will never truly be myself! I'm going to go be a hermit and think depressing thoughts and bomb everybody! Woohoo!

*that was spoken with much sarcasm*
Lots of love,
Lynne
