maybe not that stupid, just that ignorant. people are products of their surroundings, and if someone grows up hearing nothing but negative stereotypes about groups of people through the jokes that are told around them, what else do you expect them to think?

i think that was just a run-on sentence, he was actually saying shows besides those are the ones that suck.

Take a look at the show Will and Grace for a minute. That show thrives on stereotypes and racist jokes. If people were offended it would never had been so popular.

TV is different than real life. it is fictional characters making those jokes and stereotypes. And once again, it is obvious that they're not discriminating against them.

Man, even Lisa's funnier that you and your racist jokes. What shows would you say are good? Hmm?

But how could you tell? I might seem like I'm just joking, but I could still really be saying it just to spite you. The insult was the same principle. To me it might be a joke, but it could still be hurtful to you.

The original draft of The Lord of the Rings featured Chuck Norris instead of Frodo Baggins. It was only 5 pages long, as Chuck roundhouse-kicked Sauron's ass halfway through the first chapter.

I'm not talking about qualitytelevison. I'm talking popualtrity. The Oc was popular and we all know that show is crap.

And yes it was popular. It was nominated for 49 Emmys and won 12 of them. From 2001 to 2005 it was the second rated sitcom only to Friends. So I would say that it was pretty popular

If you insulted me and said you were just kidding i would be pissed. If you were telling a white/lesbian/german joke and said it with no malicious intent then no i wouldn't.

I dunno. To me, those jokes just showcase the ignorance prominent in our society. Whether malicious or not, they are still feeding the fires of racism, sexism, etc.

Thats what i was trying to tell my friends. even if you dont mean it maliciously, spreading the idea that promoting stereotypes is ok will still give some people the idea that being rascist is ok.

You're amazing.

And I also agree with you clpo. Saying "just kidding" doesn't make something unoffensive or funny.
