Believe it or not I sort of agree with Knight on this one. As long as there is no malicious intent the jokes are funny. I mean I laugh at gay jokes and German jokes all the time and I am both.

degrading, stupid jokes are the funniest kinds and anyone who cant laugh at them has no sense of humor.

It's hard to tell a friend to not repeat those kind of jokes. I mean I know I seriously would let them know how I felt about it. How I see it is if they really are your friend then they'd stop and not repeat them anymore. But if they continue despite what you had to say and what you expressed than they truly aren't a friend. That's my view on it. So if it is offensive to you or your just strongly againest things like that tell them express your feelings towards that matter. I'd do the same if I was in your postion.

This brings up another whole topic of debate: labeling. The thing is, some labels are necessary (it's too late and I can't spell, sorry), but not the derogatory ones that often come with bad jokes, like "fag" and "nigger." *cringe*

I'm sorry you feel that the internet is for offending people. There are so many other things the internet has to offer; things that can open your eyes and widen your horizons. Honestly, YN should do that. And there's absolutely no need for name-calling, knight.

While it may not be the joke that divides people, it is the intent and perception that does. There are a lot of people who are offended by the jokes so people should not make them.

No, it doesn't! We aren't hiding racial jokes; there's nothing to hide. We're trying to *break* stereotypes. Breaking stereotypes will help disentegrate (spelling?) these stupid jokes. These jokes *can* divide, and that's important to comprehend. It's amazingly important that we try to understand each other rather than pick on or laugh at each other. Little things can wear people down over time and eventually make them snap.

Mencia is a bad example of comedy television. And because I'm only "a little bit racist" *cue Ave Q music*, I find his jokes rather sickening. Two *slightly* offensive comedy shows I recommend: The Daily Show and the Colbert Report. That's a bit more intelligent enteratainment.

These racist jokes and slights are not making us a better people, they are dividing us further. Funny things can be bad things, you know. Think about it. I hate being stereotyped as a "white" person trying to get involved where I shouldn't, but that happens, and it hurts.
