I have come to the conclusion that White Pride or Straight Pride doesn't have the same effect as Black or Gay Pride because as a white and straight human, I haven't been ostrasized or oppressed by a large portion of society.
However.... we all know where extreme pride of one's race lead. We all know where extreme nationalism took us. Unless it is important for one's self esteem, there is no reason why pride of your inherrent identity should be an issue. It often only leads to beliefs of superiority.

If someone is bragging because they are gay or bi then they either really aren't gay or are doing it for attention or as a put down to people who really are gay.

If someone is bragging because they are straight then they are just doing it for attention.

Either way...it's stupid. Your sexuality does not define you so why should you bother proclaiming it?

(to unique) Get over it! It isnt that serious. How you are describing it, people are flaunting their sexuality as if it is a weapon, not bragging. How is this affecting you? It may be annoying but you'll just have to live with it.

Like I said, I would't consider that sort of thing "bragging", per say, though it might be something considered offensive or rude. But then again, think about all the stuff they have o put up with in a day. I doubt your sexuality is shoved down your throat like human waste everyday. And mind you, you can quit this club. Eh? Please give me the names of these people that run around screaming their sexuality is better... The most I've heard in school (about anyone sexuality being better than someone else's) is "Incest is best!" and they were fooling around. There are subtle ways people act that you might interept people to be saying that they are better than another sexuality, but I think you might be a little paranoid or something.

you are so right! nobodies sexuality makes them better or worse than anyone else. they shouldnt fight about it. i do on the other hand feel that sexuality is a good thing that needs to be enjoyed & understood.
