Everyone has a differenct idea of when they believe it's ok to lie. Some say always, some say never. I believe that it's ok sometimes. I think that honesty can hurt sometimes. Though I suppose they need to know the truth there are just certain times that you have to. In my opinion anyways. Like to a child for instance when they ask you what you think of their drawing that you can barely make out. What do you guys think? When do you think it's ok to lie, if you think it is?

It looks like we all pretty much said the same thing. No one here can honestly tell you when it's okay to lie because when it comes down to it, it's not. You just have to decide for yourself and see if it's the right thing for you to do. If you're still wondering about it, than it's either not right at all [to lie] or just put yourself in someone elses' shoes.

It's not a problem to lie, it also depends on the situation. If it's very serious, life-threatening, I think it's best not to. A child asking if whether their drawing is nice or not, I doubt you want to hurt their feelings, besides it's a drawing, keeps them motivated. You can lie as a joke, but lieing continiously is a problem.

It depends on the situation, but it's usually not okay to lie from my point of view unless the situation is extreme.

It's always okay to lie. To your family, your friends, teachers, police, grand juries. Cool

Just kidding. Lying is just one of those things where you use your moral compass to determine whether it's justified or not. And though honesty can hurt sometimes, on the same hand sometimes it would hurt more for a person to find out you lied to them, rather than telling them the painful truth.

It depends on the situation. Sometimes you can just don't answer the question or twist words around so you're not actually lying. Of course lying is wrong, but it can be justified at times.

Lying to protect can be justified at times.

Little white lies are tolerable, but no lying should be done.

I think that it's a personal and discrestional call. Yes, the truth can hurt but so can finding out that a lie has been told. Regardless of what the lie is and what the intentions are behind it, it still can lead to trust issues. Like I said, it's all a personal and discrestional call.
