So, my "best friend", Amanda... doesn't talk to me anymore. It started about a month ago I guess. I broke up with my last boyfriend and started wearing more make up (only eye liner, mascara, and lip gloss), i started listening to different music, and i had a slightly different style (sorry, i refuse to think of myself as any label because i hate them). Then I started going out with this one guy named Dan. He's totally awesome and he's very sweet. He's just not the greatest looking guy on Earth, I guess. I began thinking Amanda was upset at the fact that I've changed a little. Then I decided to get a change of hairstyle... i got it cut really short and dyed it a redish purple color. The first day I saw her (valentines day) she just looked at me and right away she goes "i really dont like your hair, but whatever makes you happy". I know it's kinda rude for me to say this but, god... I didn't even ask for her opinion. So anyway, I texted her a couple days ago because she didn't use my locker like she normally did, which may not seem like a big deal, but i felt as if she didn't want to be my friend anymore (because she had this other friend named megan who she shared lockers with... until she lost interest in her). Anyway... so I texted her and asked her why she didn't use my locker, she said she got her own locker and she didnt want to use mine anymore. Then she asked why I asked and I said I was just wondering. Then she asked why i asked like that and i said because me and her haven't talked for a month and we haven't really hung out for a month either... then she told me that she's mad because i've changed. I thought best friends (especially ones who love each other like a sister) were supposed to actually like each other no matter what. even if one of them isn't all "gangster" or whatever like the other one anymore. So anyway, after all this long post bull crap... do you think i should try to stay her best friend, or should i try to find someone who will actually like me for me, instead of some bull crap label on the outside?

I have always been someone that befirended people based on what I see in them. I have many friends that a lot of my other friends don't like, I have lost many people due to this, but I have found that the friends that I have left are the ones I really want anyway. I have always looked for people with kind hearts, as sappy as that sounds. You find these people everyone, in every "caste" of social life. This is why some of my friends never see eachother and sometimes question why I hang out with my other friends, as long as these people accept that I have friends other than them, and that I think they are good people, i'm not questioned much, and retain their friendships. You shouldn't have to prove yourself to anyone or change just to stay friends, you can drift apart, and find new friends, or if you talk to her one-on-one you may be able to reconcile your new found differences.

Falling in love is awfully simple. Falling out of love is simply awful.

I lost several friends when I changed my outer appearance, but still, some accepted me for who I was, and didn't care what I looked like on the outside. Those were my true friends.

Yeah, they got to be able to accept you or atleast tolerate you to be considered a friend, and I think if she was really your friend she would've just asked "why" you were changing, you know? try to understand.

Find friends who like you for who you are.
