Sometimes they can, if you find a therapist you trust and click with. I use myself as a prime example for this, because hell, it worked. I had a counselor who had a different approach to things. She is an art therapist, and I'm not going to explain it, just imagine where that can be taken. She was awesome. Fortunately she was a friend of the family so it wasn't hard finding her, but I'm sure there's a way. I used to call around therapists offices asking random questions about their counselors to see if there was one who might fit.

I know it's not the moderator's place to editorialize, but please, if you're considering suicide, contact a professional or confide in a trusted friend or family member.

So you want to feel special by having somebody confide in you, thereby making you feel better than everyone else by 'stopping someone from committing suicide' where in actuality they most likely would not have followed through with it in the first place.

Please, if you're thinking about suicide, go talk to a school councillor or an adult that you trust (Teacher, Pastor, Family Friend ect), not to somebody you met randomly on the net.

Suicide is a serious issue that needs to be addresed, the want to take ones life should not be taken lightly.
