I know that nobody here is stupid enough to meet someone off the internet without being cautious but just in case I thought it would be good to read these steps and take them before doing such a thing. Not everyone is what they seem to be. Alot of people say things because they know it's what you want to hear. So here are the guidelines and steps I got off of aol safety. So please be careful everyone!

The No. 1 thing to remember about an online friend is that a person's online personality is not necessarily a true reflection of his or her offline personality. If you are going to meet someone in person that you have only known online, it is up to you to take steps to ensure your safety. For children, it is absolutely critical that parents do their part to educate a child about the dangers of meeting someone whom they only know from online conversations, and monitor both the child's online communications as well as offline meetings.

Adults should be just as careful as children in arranging to meet an online friend offline. The bottom line is an adult should take whatever steps he or she feels are necessary and, if you do not feel comfortable about meeting your online friend in person, do not go no matter what your online friend tells you. Some potential steps to take are as follows:

• Take your time, because there is no rush.
• Talk it over with a friend to get their perspective.
• Be honest but don't reveal personal details.
• Talk on the telephone first.
• Set terms for the meeting such as a time limit.
• Keep the meeting short.
• Always meet in public, such as a restaurant or coffee shop.
• Don't leave the public place for the first few meetings.
• Tell a friend where you will be or take the friend along to your first meeting.
