Hello, I am 15 years old and I dont know what to do anymore as my depression is coming into my life. I have dealt with verbal abuse, a parent leaving me, rejection by peers and family. Now my saddness about my past is affecting me so badly. I have grades that I would never imagion in school, I oversleep, I am pushing people away. I tried to tell my mother and my best friend but it didn't help. My mother just told me to 'snap out' of it. And my bestfriend just thinks it is a phaze I am going through. If I try to talk about a problem I have she dont care because she just want to talk about her problems. I just need help from someone who doesn't know me and can accpet the fact that the person who everyone goes too, the president of her class, a natural leader, is screaming for help before it is too late.

Have you every been in depression and think thats no one wants to help or will thinks you are lying.

Dear musicfreak101,

I totally understand what your going through. I have some friends who are laying some major pressure on me and expect me to handle all of their problems. Everybody expects me to be the leader of every single situation and sometimes its really hard because I'm the leader. So everybody expects me to always have the answer, but the truth is that I dont always have all the answers. When I dont know where else to turn I turn to God and pray to him for help. I know that he can handle all of my problems when I just lay them in his hands. Big Grin

Those are some common misconceptions, that you can snap out of it or that it's a phase. That's what people told me when I was depressed in middle school ( still am, haven't snapped out of it yet ). I think they doubt because you're so young. So what you do is turn the tables on them. Usually it's the parents who tell you to go to a shrink, so tell them you want to go. And have them diagnose you with depression. There's no simple test that can do it, and you'll be there for a while, but if the shrink believes you, they will, too. Dude, noisemail me.

I agree.

You can IM me if you'd like. I've had my fair share of family issues, and I have a younger sister your age, so on that level, I can understand what you're going through.

I agree with Ikki. I would offer to talk to you if you wanted over email or AIM but I don't think I'm the best to be giving advice about this at the present moment. I hope that you feel better soon. If it helps any you are not alone and there are others just like you who go through the same thing or worts. Take care and do try and get some professional help.

Go to a counselor at school or talk to your physician. They can help you get references to people who may help you, and may be able to help you with your mom.
