Hi! Well, first off I think this is a good question.

I think anybody will have "second thoughts" about a person, or atleast runs through our minds.

Though I think its 100% possible for guys and girls to just be friends, I'm a sophmore and I have a good amount of just "guy-friends" and "girl-friends."

Good Question! Smile

Aside from what you mentioned about unattractiveness or being gay there are still some other exceptions.

For instance, I am now very close friends with my ex-boyfriend (as in that's not really his label anymore - it has moved to close/best friend) and we each have a different significant other now. So of course we never think about taking it further than friends because we've been there and done that.

The question was can a girl and guy be friends without having thoughts about taking the friendship further.

The answer is no. It isn't possible to not have those thoughts. Unless, as Agua said, one of you is gay or extremely bizzare.

At one time or another one of the friends, whether it be the guy or girl, may start to feel attraction to each other, more than just a regular "I-can-fart/burp/tell-them-anything-and-they'll-still-be-there-for-me" friendship. Haha.
But as I was saying, feelings develop over time. At one point or another I'm sure one of the friends likes the other. And so on, so forth. They may grow out of the feelings, the feelings of being more than just a friend, but they may not.

But I do think it's possible, yes.

I never thought I'd say this, but BushSupporter got it kind of right.

If you're a guy who has attractive female friends, and you claim you don't think about boning them with a semi-regular frequency, you're either lying, gay, or extremely bizarre (in case you can't tell, I'm not in a very tactful mood right now).

I don't really know how girls' mind work (how I wish I did), but I think it's safe to say that, in general, unless both the girl and the guy are either unattractive or gay, there's always gonna be some sexual tension involved. That's not to say the sexual tension can't be worked around, and it's certainly safe to say that most of this sexual tension will never be acted on. Often, it's completely unwanted, or it's only coming from one side, so the person never speaks up about it.

Why? There is nothing wrong with the word boys. You are a boy, do you have a problem with that?
